“Choose an Orthodontist!”
I have read through all the reviews on this website, and it seems that every unhappy patient has used a dentist rather than an orthodontist. Dentists can get certified to treat patients with invisalign after a few weekend courses, while orthodontists study teeth movement through all of their schooling. It seems also that dentists are recommending this treatment to patients coming in for regular cleanings that may not even have considered braces as a priority for themselves. My orthodontist explained the worst case scenerio to me before i agreed to treatment (he gave me the longest treatment time I would need and also explained the buttons and the small possibility I would need to wear traditional braces on some of my side teeth for a month or 2).
I am on tray 5 and am very happy so far. They are very unnoticeable. My boyfriend can not tell the difference when they are in or out. So far only one person noticed i have them and she was standing about a foot away from me. Traditional braces are 100x more noticeable. invisalign gives your teeth a "glossy" look. I have buttons on 8 of my teeth and they have no been an issue at all. The first day of a new alligner there is a lot of pressure. I took a few advil and was fine. I did have traditional braces as a kid and they were much much more painful! I do drink with them in (beer and wine)... I would rather do that than have them out for an extended period of time. I rinse my mouth every so often in the bathroom and then brush good when i am done. I clean with denture cleaner, soap and water, and toothpaste. All have cleaned sufficiently, and my alligners have not gotten cloudy or dirty at all.
