I could not say enough how you would probably want to stay at least one night if possible. I had to stay two nights and there was no way I would have made it at home or in a hotel. I had to stay in with previous outpatient surgeries too though. Everybody is different but I would stay if you have a choice. Defintly worth the extra cost.

@mom_me Thank you so much I already so drink a lot of water. I drink Kangen water. Its a water that high in alkaline it is much better and crisper than any bottle or tap water. I will note the ice packs and stool softens.

Well then I'm glad you will get the pain pump. Did he explain what he means by leaving it in? They give you alot of meds for pain and you should be sure to take them even a little early so they have time to kick in. If something isn't working for you then have them call something else in. Also alot of people myself included appriciated the valium for muscle relaxing. Be sure to have stool softeners or even laxatives handy and start taking them right after you get home because the pain pills will constipate you. Lots of water too. I also found ice packs to be my best friend aside from the pain meds lol.

Hi Kathryn,
It's nice to have you here. I had a mommy makeover and I did have it "done" in a hospital but went home the same day. The only reason my doctor didn't do it at his suite was because I had had a heart attack in 2010 and had three stents put in. Otherwise he would have done it in his suite. I didn't have any complications at all and everything went smoothly. I have seen that it's more about the doctors regular practice as to a hospital stay and some have you stay at a hotel near by with a private nurse. Most people I've read about go home the same day. I didn't have a pain pump but hear that it makes those first couple days easier. Just take all your questions with you for the consults and do what makes you feel best. :)

Thank you very much for your comment. I am just nervous. I am glad he will be giving me a pain pump because I have a low tolerance for pain.

Hi there and welcome to RealSelf!

Here's what some doctors have to say about pain pumps. I think they stay in for a couple days after surgery, but I could be wrong.

If I were getting a mommy makeover, I'd want to stay in the hospital for sure, depending on how much it cost. One night can run thousands. Some surgeons do operate in surgical suites in their offices and others in hospitals. It totally depends on the surgeon.

You have to choose what makes you the most comfortable.
