I went to my dermatologist to get BOTOX done and I also grabbed some Retin A, see reviews about it on Botox and Retin A pages.
While I was there, I wanted to do something with my eyelashes. That was almost two weeks ago. Place where I went offers eyelash extensions and also eyelash growing stuff. Dermatologist really wanted me to do eyelash extensions. I refused, because a friend of mine got eyelash extensions and after a year she took them off and there was nothing left. Her eyelashes were little stumps left on the place of her eyelashes... So she said you can grow eyelashes but she didnt tell me what she had been using. I thought there is only one product, turned out that they carry several. They have Lilash, Obagi, Latisse and Fysiko.
I was totally stunned and was not sure what to get, dermatologist couldn't provide much advice, I think she still was trying to convince me to do eyelash extensions. I didn't have much time, so I thought I would research at home and then decide. Well, there was no time to research, as I have a little baby at home... So, I went second time to talk about RetinA and Botox and make decision on eyelash stuff. Looked like Obagi wasn't a good choice. So I had to choose between three products. Dermatologist was pushing Latisse and Fysiko. Why didnt she like Lilash, I am not sure, I have a suspicion she gets more commissions from these two other brands? As Latisse is the only FDA approved, I went for Latisse, it was $100 and two others were more expensive but seemed to have more product in the tubes.
I don't understand why Latisse is not covered by my insurance if it is prescription medication?
I got a small brush as she advised me to and trying it tonight. I will keep you posted.
What I also don't understand why keep so many brands of the same thing? If they do the same, why would they carry several brands, it is only confusing for consumer.

Sorry to hear you are having some redness. :-/ Hopefully that will go away as your body adjusts to it, but out of curiosity if the redness stayed the same as it is now would you think the benefits would offset the irritation?
Latisse is not covered by your insurance because its not medically necessary. Dr. Neigel explains that in this Q&A.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't feel you were given good guidance from your dermatologist. It sounds like you made a good choice going with Latisse. Here is a Q&A, clearly these doctors won't be benefiting from whatever you choose, so hopefully hearing what they have to say helps solidify your decision:
