I initially visited Dr. Mustoe because I had...

I initially visited Dr. Mustoe because I had incurred deep indentations or soft tissue damage on either side of my eight-year old chin implant when it became infected during dental implant surgery. I had spent a year on antibiotics combating infections, facial swelling and finally, seeping boils on either side of my chin implant. When my boils dried up, I visited two local plastic surgeons whom I sensed were somewhat reluctant to help. As my despair was growing with my local surgeons, my employer recommended Dr. Mustoe, about two hours away.

I checked out Dr. Mustoe on the Internet and was thoroughly impressed -- Harvard educated, a wound-care specialist, world renown, patent holding...(He even was on Oprah!). I thought I might have a hard time scheduling an appointment quickly with a prominent Chicago plastic surgeon, but such was not the case. Unlike the two surgeons locally, I was able to see him within a week. At our first meeting, he was kind, compassionate and resolute. Unlike the other two surgeons, he stressed that my implant needed to be removed immediately and did so that afternoon; whereas, the other two wanted to review, study my file, talk to my insurance company, treat me with antibiotics, etc. When I returned the following week, Dr. Mustoe detailed how to return me to my prior state and even enhance it. A neck lift, face lift, and fat grafting were scheduled for the next month. I added eyelid surgery and fat grafting for my lip.

Two months later, I am extremely pleased with my results. I really do look 20 years younger. (I have old photos to prove it!). The deep indentations in the chin area are almost flat. Scars are practically non-existent. My skin looks "flawless." My neck and face don't show "aging." These are comments made by my children, whom I visited in D.C. over Christmas and were not advised of my procedures.

As for cost: Dr. Mustoe's fees were comparable to what I would have paid in my small town and my local surgeons were not at all in the same league. As for recovery, the pain abated within 3 to 4 days. Discoloration from bruising was diminished greatly by the laser treatment received. Lastly, I only have superlatives when describing Dr. Mustoe's staff. From Between, the receptionist, to Cindy Hinkle, the laser specialist/aesthetician, to Lori Pascal, patient care coordinator, and finally, Beth Wagley, RN, I could not have been treated with greater care, courtesy, or concern. My husband and I are thoroughly pleased with the experience and results.
