Steri Strips Off, Beginning Scar Treatment

Today I decided to take the steri strips off and I'm glad I did! I had the green light to do so a couple days ago but it didn't look like all of the stitches had dissolved yet. For the strips on my left breast, I was able to remove them easily but had to use a damp bath towel to soften up the strips on my right side and that worked! I would recommend either trying to remove the strips in the shower or just get them a little damp and that should ease any pain.

At this point I'm using Would Be Gone gel from my doctor and nothing else. They told me I could get the scar sheets at my 6 week appointment, but I'm thinking I may need them sooner. I just feel like I need to cover the scars so they can heal properly and not rub against my bra. I have purchased waterproof cushions that you can place over a wound, but I think I need to put gauze or something over it. Ladies, what do you think? I haven't found much info on here about what to do if you're just using the scar cream and not the sheets. Also, does anyone massage their scars? I wasn't told to do so by my doctor (it didn't come up at all) so I'm not sure if I should or not. Plus, I have no idea how to do it!

Thanks so much for your support and help!

Some Old, Some New

Hello, my breast buddies! Not much new to report on the boob front other than today was the first time they felt soft pretty much all day! Normally when I'm hanging out with my hubby (and cats) after dinner they feel super hard at the top near my cleavage. Not today, yay! Also, I'm going to take the steri strips off this Friday (recommended by doc) and I'm a tad nervous but they're nearly falling off at this point. I've added some pictures with new bras from the VS semi annual sale and also a bralette I received as a gift for my honeymoon but couldn't fill out! Now... I can... Ahhhhh! I ended up buying two 34C bras and two 34D bras and since they have a 90 day return policy, I'll return the ones that don't fit at the 6 week mark. For only $15.99 a piece I couldn't pass them up! I'm starting to see that even though I totally fill out the 34D, the 34C looks much better and makes my boobs not look like they're being swallowed up by my bra. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks, friends!

6 Days Post Op: Healing Time

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm nearing one week post op and it feels so much longer than that. Yesterday I began doing the breast massage exercises 3x a day and each "workout" lasts about 7-8 minutes. I followed the same video that PinkLotus posted and it seems to be working well so far. I can't lie though, doing the exercises really takes it out of me! By the end of it I am worn out for some reason, but that should get easier through repetition. My major focus right now (not that it hasn't been all along) is continuing to follow my healing regimen. If anyone has suggestions for me, I'm all ears!

• Massage exercises 3x day (am, pm, before bed)
• Immediately after exercise apply Arnica Gel (to help with bruising and swelling)
• Continuing Arnica Montana tabs throughout the day; should finish bottle by end of next week
• Zinc supplement with lunch/dinner
• Vitamin C drops 2x day (100% DV in each)
• Cocoa butter lotion 1x day
• Light activity throughout the day

I'm already starting to notice a small difference in their shape and it looks like they're dropping a little bit already. I did some shopping at Target yesterday and found super comfortable bras that you can wear with straps, strapless, one shoulder, etc. They're a steal too, only $16.99 for a two pack (Bandini bra, size medium). Anyway, I've been sleeping on the couch since my surgery but I may move back into our bed tonight! Hopefully laying on my back won't be too painful, but I'll bring extra pillows in case. Also, I'm basically off all pain meds! Yippee!! For all of the ladies out there who have just gotten your BA, good luck to you and happy healing. :)
