Out of Work for a 4th Week

So I had my 2nd post-opt appointment on Wednesday, and only 1 tube was taken out, but it was the tube on the right side, which was the one that was giving me so many problems. My skin around that part of my incision was so raw, I guess from the binder rubbing up against. I followed instructions I read on a blog; to use a thick sanitary napkin on the incision site and over the tubing. In addition, I am wearing a cami/wife-beater t-shirt between the sanitary napkin and the binder as well as lubricating with Neosporin and A&D ointment. I read so many reviews where RSers were able to discontinue their prescribed medications and just use OTC pain medications after just a few days. Sadly, I was not 1 of those. I completed all of my prescribed medications and was then prescribed medication that is not a strong as the Hydrocodone, but a little stronger than OTC meds. So right now I am taking 1 prescribed pill w/4 Advil twice daily (morning + night). If I do too much during the day and start to ache, I just take 4 Advil. I've been out of work for 3 weeks now and was supposed to return to work tomorrow, but my PS took me out for an additional week. There is no way I would be able to wake up, get myself & 2 kids ready, and be at work by 8 A.M. As long as I still have a tube in me, I walk much slower and get stiff much quicker if I'm seated longer than a few minutes. My tummy is looking better every day. After this last tube comes out on Tuesday, I will have my butt in the gym on Wednesday. It's seems like so long that I've been able to work out.

Day 5 post opt

I decided to use Epsom Salt as my pre-surgical laxative. Disgusting, but it worked wonders. Had BMs 3 or the 5 days. The binder and tubes.....ready to be done with them. The lift chair....definately a must-have if possible. I am going to try to post some pics if I can. I/m gonna work on getting them turned around correctly.

Day 2 post-op

Surgery was a success. Pain following surgery was a 10 & that was w/the shot of Exparel. I don't know if I would've made it at all w/out that the Exparel. Today pain is an 8. Definitely rent a lift chair if possible......great investment. More later w/pics. Tired...but FLAT.

I've only met her once in person, but the time that she spent with me answering all of my questions was great. Her practice's website is just as warming and inviting as she and her entire staff are in person.
