Hi guys I'm Sian, 32 from South Wales, UK. This...

Hi guys I'm Sian, 32 from South Wales, UK. This site has been so helpful to me in choosing to remove my wrist tattoo. Your stories are so inspirational and heartfelt so I felt I should share my journey from across the pond :)

I had a daisy tattoo done on my wrist when I was 15 - yes the tender age of 15 (the "artist" who did it is still operating incredibly!!!) I had it done to impress a guy and instantly regretted it! It looked like a dartboard at the time and my friends ridiculed me immediately! The relationship with said guy didn't last two minutes so I then added a green leaf stem to it and more daisies to make it look more pretty! Silly girl! Hating it more and more over the years I thought by tattooing the other side of my wrist with my new baby daughter's initial and more daisies, it might make it more meaningful and attractive! Wrong again Sian!

I come to terms with it over the years and just learnt to ignore it - plus it was so badly done and healed patchy! Always explaining to people at work (I'm a medical secretary constantly typing and using my hands) that it was an age old mishap become embarrassing plus I found myself wearing long sleeve tops all the time so I knew it was time to get rid!

I should add at this point, I'd already lasered a tattoo on the back of my neck and had it covered. I've posted pics above! It took four sessions to fade and my intention was always to cover not remove. I'm overjoyed by the result and I now have a beautiful new shiny bright Aquarius tattoo which I'm very proud of :)

My intention with my wrist is to remove the underside and fade to cover the top. The green stem is there to stay unfortunately because Picosure isn't readily available in the UK - I believe there's 4 places that does it and none are near me! Plus I could never afford it anyway!

My neck was a black tribal design done 15 years ago which reacted beautifully to laser with no blistering at all! I experienced burning and itching for up to a week afterwards but that was it! I had sessions with Dan at Physical Graffiti, Cardiff (a fully qualified, experienced, fantastic guy) every four weeks and after four sessions it had faded to a light grey sufficient to cover. See pics :)

My wrist tattoo was an entirely different story! Dan lasered both sides at 2pm using the same strength laser he used on my neck, by midnight the tattoo started blistering massively and my arm up to the elbow was double the size! 24 hours later my arm and hand had ballooned to triple the size, I couldn't lift a cup or drive! I'm fortunate enough to work with Doctors who warned me not to pop the massive yellow blisters! Apparently blisters are your body's way of protecting the injury and popping them can introduce infection so I didn't pop them - it was hard bloody work! I kept Dan posted throughout who was gutted with my blistering but reassured I was looking after it well!

Four days later and lots of weeping, sticky yellow crusting and then the blisters turned to scabs. Two weeks after the laser and my arm looks fine with no scarring at all just redness, dry skin and itchiness! I moisturise umpteen times daily to help the healing process! I'm so pleased to see the black outline of the tattoo already breaking down and in parts it has completely disappeared! The results will get better and better with time and then I'll have another session!

PS: I'm not sure what laser Dan is using but I'll ask him and will share.

Thanks for reading so far. I'll keep you all posted :) xxxxx
