“Breast Augmentation That Might Need a Revision - Canada”
Spent: $13,000 in CANADA
Posted 4 Dec 2011
Hello! So here’s my Breast Augmentation Story:
I’m 27 years old, 5’7 and 115 pounds. I had inframammary subpectoral 260cc moderate profile silicone implants & went from small B to a large C.
Before I even considered the surgery I really did a lot of research on the procedure, the risks, and the surgeons. When I finally decided to get it done, I had already saved for quite a while and decided to go to the most reputable (and expensive) doctor in my area, I just wanted to make sure that things would work out.
Initially, I was really satisfied and excited about the results but I also noticed that my implants dropped quickly into place (two weeks). As the first months went by, they continued dropping until they settled quite bellow my natural crease (see photos). I have also developed muscular distortion when I flex.
Now, a year and a half later, the more I look at pictures online, the more I realize that my nipples are pointing upward and the pocket might have been over dissected. The situation is quite confusing since they I don’t feel they look as weird in real life as they do in pictures.
Also, I’ve been feeling really conscious about my scars, which are huge and hypertrophic! I’ve decided I want those revised no matter what.
In conclusion, I never imagined that any of the complications would happen to me but here I am, 1.5 years later with hypertrophic scars and bottoming out on both sides. I don’t regret having my implants put in at all but I really do think everyone that is interested in getting them should really take into consideration they may have the need for a revision (and its costs!)… I took all the precautions and it still happened to me.

My doctor has a great reputation but I do think he overdissected my implant pocket and I guess I wouldn't go to him to get a revision.

I'm sorry you're going through this. The immediate pre-op photos sure do look good, and your implants weren't that large, yet they look almost too large for your frame in the recent shots. What does your surgeon say about what's going on?
It really sounds like you did your homework and that there was no way you could have foreseen or prevented this.
You might want to check out RealSelf's Breast Implant Revision community if you think you're going to go that route.
Please keep us posted! I hope you're able to get your breasts the way you want them with minimal expense and discomfort.
