I had my erbium laser resurfacing on october 8th, it was the most painful thing i have ever experienced... it cost $3,700.00 and my face is still not entirely healed... i still have the outline where my face was lasered... and i am still swollen and my pores are still open.... anyways i hadnt broken out in years before this..

the erbium was to attempt to make my scarring a little better from my acne in the past... and i have been breaking out now every day for the past 2 weeks.. its not going away, its just getting worse and worse.. i have no broken out everywhere on my forehead and i never used to break out there....

i went back to my doctor who did it and he booked me in for a microdermabraison treatment for friday but at this point i really dont think that is going to do much..

has this happened to anyone else before? or does anyone know what i could use to help my break outs and help them go away? I only use cetaphil face cleanser.. and never wear foundation.. please HELP!

I am wondering if erbium laser resurfacing has had this effect on anyone else...

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I have also suffered from acne in the past, so I understand how terrible it feels to have your face break out. Yes, I have heard about this happening to other people after laser resurfacing, and I have been told that it just takes time but the acne does settle down again. Apparently, they do not understand how the laser aggravates the situation in some people, but it does improve.
I had the YAG (erbium)resurfacing years ago. My face bled like crazy in a few spots which later turned into nasty scars. Freaked out at seeing scars forming I let the SOB do a second lasering, worst mistake. I started off with 2 tiny scars on one cheek and finished with a face full of ice-pick scars. Anyway, I had severe, severe acne afterward. But I was told it was due to the medications that I was on (for spinal surgery done 2weeks before lasering). You can try natural pure (no sugar or additives) honey to help keep bacterial level down and cover it for overnights with gauze (not an easy task, but can be done). Let me know...
Hello, I had my first Erbium treatment done 11 days ago and I'm very pleased with the results. I'm African American, have acne, and had several dark spots on my cheeks as well as about four little "ice pick" scars on the left cheek. The Erbium took care of about 80% of the dark areas, and it lightened my skin about one shade (which I didn't know it would do and am not too happy about, but it should darken back up after more sun exposure. It did not take care of any of the acne scars but I'm not upset about them because they're barely noticeable and the reason I had the Erbium was for the dark spots anyway. The first three days after treatment my skin was disgusting; it oozed and was swollen and dark red but after that it dried, peeled and completely healed within seven days. During the seven days I washed my face with Cetaphil (gentle, non-soap cleanser) and applied Aquafor ointment over my skin as well as sunblock. Since it's been 11 days I'll now start applying hydroquinone nightly to prevent hyper pigmentation from occurring. I hope this helps!
I have had this side effect from the fraxel-like Luixir 15/40. Just had my 4th session. Each time I have experienced awful (!!!) acne breakouts in all the treated areas and the same ed outline youdescribe. It first looks like a terrible sunburn then it all breakouts with dozens of whiteheads, just nasty. It does settle down, but takes almost 2 weeks or more for me... As painful as the tx is I prefer it to the recovery! I am however seeing the results now from tx 1 and 2 (6 tx course) and SOOO worth it. Keep in mind collagen and elastin take 6 mos to fully rejuvenate so thats when you see the results with these kinds of tx! Good Luck!
