Mommy of 2 Getting a Complete Makeover! What Am I in For?! - California

I am a mommy of two little ones (15 months & 2.5 years old). Lost a lot of weight and I'm having a Mommy Makeover! I will be having a full tummy tuck, muscle repair, lipo of my hips and a breast reduction with a lift.

I am super excited and extremely nervous/scared at the same time. I am afraid something terrible will happen to me while in the operating room and that I will never make it our of surgery and see my kids grow up. How can I overcome this feeling?

You need to be confident and have faith in your surgeon. I hate hospitals and needles, but was not a bit nervous. I knew it all would work out. Do you have someone lined up to help care for you kids? My in-laws kept the kids the first 9 days afterwards, but I did see them a few hours a day. That concentration on recovery will really help. I had issues with feeling really bad for not being able to help take care of them, so beware. That's just a mom thing. I'm coming up on 3 weeks post op and am awaiting lifting the kids and getting back into my normal routine. Getting back to the thoughts about never seeing your kids again if something happened, I just refused to think those thoughts. Mind over matter. Good luck!

I felt the exact same way. I am 5 weeks postop now and I was so nervous before because I hadnt ever had major surgery before, not even c sections. The surgical team and anesthesiologists made me feel so at ease the day of my surgery. I was still nervous but everyone was so positive that it eased some of my anxiousness. To me the waiting before the surgery was probably the hardest part of the whole thing. You will be so glad you did this for yourself, trust me.

I am so excited for my upcoming surgery! I had my pre-op today (TT with MR, BR, Lipo of hips)....should I include lipo of outer thighs? It's $1200 more...would you do it? Anything I need to know? I am past the point of being nervous or scared and so wished my surgery was tomorrow! I can't wait!

I did include the thighs fr an extra $1100, I figured at that point I might as well since my bill was already $10,500. I am not 3 days post op and feeling better each day, yesterday was the worse so far. I had a BA, TT, and lipo of flanks and thighs. Good luck with your surgery, and make sure if you do lipo on the thighs that they don't take off much or it will leave you with wavy, saggy thighs

It's the morning of my surgery and I can't sleep because I am sooooo excited! After taking those pictures last night and looking back at them I am so glad I am going through with all of this. I didn't *think* I looked that bad when looking at myself in a mirror, but OMG I can't believe my husband thinks I'm attractive.....yuck! I can't wait for all the huge saggy boobs to be gone and the horrid tummy to be flat! Even when my hubby looked at the pictures he said I looked bloated...I can suck in REALLY good. I don't "normally" look like this. Goodbye fat/flubby figure....hello hotness!!!!

I'm home!!!!!!!! Last I remember was looking at the clock in the Operating room and it said 8:00....I was in recovery by 1:00. Operation was done around 12:30!!!! The nurse said I was a "perfect patient." Pain is very mild....a 1 out of 10 right now! Only 2 drains at the tummy tuck incisions and none in my breasts. One drain barely has anything in it. I just got done walking my hallway, sitting her munching saltines and drinking gatorade! Feeling good so far.....just really sleepy!

Congrats!!! Can't wait to see your results...get lots of rest, glad to hear you're doing well!

Yay surgery is over! Rest up and keep up with your pain meds for a while bc you dont want the pain to hit you out of no where & then the meds dont kick in fast enough. Bet you cant wait to see your new belly :))

I can't stop staring at my boobs! I know that they are swollen, but I am already loving them!!!

One question....I am starting to feel the paing of my TT more and especially one drain area hurts bad. Is this normal?! Tomorrow at my post-op I'm sure one drain will come out because nothing is coming out of it.....but the other one still has a fair amount of blood and it hurts at I believe where it is inserted in me.

Total pain level with 10 being the highest I would say is a 2-3! I think that is pretty good!

So, I sit here in a lot of pain. I have taken my pain meds, but OMG my tummy is sore. Not the incision area, but my left side. Not sure if it is gas or what...I can hear and feel my tum moving around. I hope this is gas pains and not something else. I can't fall asleep cause I am so freaked out about this feeling. Someone reassure me that it is gas, please! My appt is at 8:55 in the morning, so I will talk with the surgeon about this feeling.

My pain came primarily from gas at first. Ask you PS buy I had to do an enema which eliminated a lot of my gas. I felt soooo much better after the enema. My stomach was gurgling like crazy so that's I was able to tell it was gas. Good luck! Hope you feel better :)
  • Reply
See I hope it is gas and not some other major problem. My tummy is gurgling A LOT. It also doesn't help that I just started my period today....1 day post-op. :/ not fun!
Congrats on the new boobs. I loved mine at first too. I have decided I should have gone with saline instead of gel and I think I would be happier with them right now. Can't wait to see your final results. Day 3 was the worse for me. I am at day 12 now and feeling great I was able to clean house a little yesterday, each day gets better.

A little over an hour until my first post-op visit and I am so excited to see myself!

Also, it has been nice to have visitors. It gets very lonely. Yesterday one of my girlfriends came over while my hubby went and picked up the kids from his mom and dropped them off at my sisters. While she was here I had to use the restroom. She was such a trooper and helped me get to the bathroom and even unsnapped my "onesie" (as she likes to call it) and helped me get on the toilet. She was so scared the whole time that and kept cracking jokes....which does not help because laughing hurts SO bad! True friends are hard to come by!

Just got back from my 2 day Post-Op visit and they are leaving the drains in. :-( I was so hoping to have at least the one side removed! My PS is happy with how everything is looking and even the ladies in the office came in and saw me and were happy with how I am recovering. They said that I look good, not flushed like a lot of patients do when they come in. I go back next Monday and HOPEFULLY will have the drains removed! :-) Here are pictures from todays visit!

Well hubby went and picked me up some ex-lax tonight. Hope it does some magic! He said to me, "after you poop me and the kids will make you some cookies!" I guess I get a reward if I go "poop"! LOL!

I want to eat real food soooo badly! Tired of a liquid diet!

As long as you are taking those pain meds your going to be constipated. I had to take an enema.

I had a feeling this was the case. I don't plan to stop the pills for a few days, until drains are out. :-( I'll just say a prayer that I can poop before then.
Yeah meds will stop you up. Sometimes a suppository will work. I hated the constipation after my c-sections. This sounds weird, but the little squirt bottles that you get when you deliver vaginally work wonders. U fill it with a little soap and warm (the warmer the better) and squirt it at your bum/rectum. This also helps to stimulate a bowel especially if you've already tried an oral laxative.

I get to eat today!!! FINALLY! Don't know if it was the MoM or the Ex-Lax, but I did it....had my first bowel movement! I think I may have lost 5 pounds not eating for almost a week (started my liquid diet 1.5 days before surgery)! ;-) Watch out food, here I come!

It's a miracle! I just went to the bathroom and realized I can feel my butt and thighs again! They are no longer swollen!! Thank God! I feel so much better!!! Today is a good day! Not sure if it is because I was up and walking around a bit more yesterday or if it's because I slept a little more reclined last night, but I feel better not being swollen down there....and I didn't have lipo down there, just swollen from the surgery.

Everyday seems to get better and better! Yesterday was a great day....with the help of the walker, I got up and walked around quite a bit! Felt good to get out of my recliner and out of the bedroom.

My kids (18 months and 2.5) are adjusting well to knowing that mommy can't hold them or pick them up. The firts day they saw me was heartbreaking and they were both so sad. Now it's like no big deal. We put a baby gate up in the doorway so that they can't get in here unless somebody is with them.

The pain is not as bad as I thought it would be. What hurts the most is my back and neck from being hunched over. Don't take my pain meds as much and have switched over to Extra Strength Tylenol instead of Percocet.

Everyone that has come by to visit can't believe how "flat" I am in my tummy...and they see me in my compression garmet. They are so far amazed and they can't believe my "perky boobs!

I go in tomorrow morning for my next post-op and I cannot wait to see myself again! I have not taken off my garmet at all....too scared and PS said I didn't need to change anything. So I haven't done it. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning and will post pics when I get back home!

I am so glad I made the decision to do this! No regrets so far!

It's 4:30am and I cannot sleep. Just woke up uncomfortable and found that I had kicked the pillows out from under my legs and my legs were completely straight. Just got back from my 6 day post-op appointment! I asked my surgeon how much fat/tissue/skin was removed and he said 4 pounds!!! WOW! I can't believe it!

I had one drain removed and OMG that was the freakiest feeling EVER! Felt like my large intestine was being pulled out of me or like a snake was unwinding itself inside of me and making it's way out. My husbands jaw was on the floor! CRAZY thing, but did not hurt....just a weird feeling!!! Also had a few more staples taken out. Friday I go back to have my last drain taken out! THANK GOD! They are a pain in the ass!

Surgeon also said that I can start standing up a little more straight (yay!)....not all the way just yet! By Friday for sure! He also made it VERY clear that I am still to do NOTHING around the house or lifting of kids. Thank goodness for family and friends...I will have somebody with me at home for the first 4 weeks for support!

Of course I took some more pictures....I look forward to seeing that difference as the weeks go on! CAN NOT WAIT for the swelling to go down! I'm so happy I went through with this process! Doctor said I am healing nicely! :-)

My Husband wasn't allowed in the room even in recovery. He didn't see me until they wheeled me out for him to pick my up outside of the surgery center. Just wait till he goes to post-ops with you! Then he'll really freak out with all the stitching, bleeding, drains being yanked out, etc....

Good luck!

You look great, CP!

I'm getting very excited and nervous for my surgery tomorrow. My hubby is getting very anxious, too. He doesn't do well when I am in pain. I warned the nurses to keep an eye on him when they bring him back to the recovery room. He faints. He hit the floor hard when he first saw me after having my wisdom teeth pulled. I have a feeling that this is going to put him really over the edge.

I'm hoping and praying that this goes well, and it is not too hard on my family....

Well, I *think* my swelling is going down a bit because tonight when I went to fasten my garmet it was a little less tight! That makes me so happy! I looked in the mirror and said to myself, "I can't believe how small I am!"

Friday can't come fast enough....no more drains and I get to see myself again....and probably shower! :-)

Hi CP,

The zoo...oh please tell me that you went, you breathed fresh air, the sun shone on your face, and your DH wheeled you around so you could take it all in!? I am 9 days post-op FTT and I spent all day wishing I could go somewhere (other than a PS appt)... Can't wait for my 1st 'day out'.

You look fabulous already! Looks like your small body really needed this!! Congrats to you.

My only regret, thus far, is that I didn't consider getting my boobs done as well. They look at least as bad as your DID, but I was so afraid of the "double" pain, and figured I should just deal with one issue at a time. I hear, however, that compared to the TT, the boob pain is a breeze.

Did you get a lift? Again, looks sooo good! How many sizes did you lose? Or can you even tell yet?

Sneezing - OUCH! Did you talk to your PS say about that? I ended up choking on water day 6 PO, and at 7day PO check up, nurse said that I did cause some bruising, outter and internal, but all sutures were still perfectly in place.

Hope your recovery continue to be speedy :)

Thanks! I am feeling fabulous....even though I am completely swollen! My garmet is not as tight...which is a good sign because my swelling must not be as bad! I am anxious to take a pic with no gauze or garmet on. Maybe after I shower and shave....hopefully tomorrow!

My PS does a lift with reductions! I love that they are close together and I can tell that when I am able to wear a bra I am going to have nice looking cleavage! Can't wait! I think that I am going to end up being a full C cup...which to me is PERFECT! I was a 38H when nursing my baby and dropped all the way to a 36DD prior to surgery. So, I am very excited about all the possibilites with "smaller-perkier" boobs!

He also told me that he took out 4 pounds of fat/skin/tissue! Woohoo! Already 4 pounds lighter! My body fat was only at 13% going into surgery....so I am curious at to what it is now! I promised myself I would not test until June....we'll see if I can hold out until then!

With the sneezing, I never called the PS. I didn't feel like I ended up getting a Seroma or anything and the pain went away. I'll bring it up at my next appt on Friday.
Don't overdo it. Being on the computer yesterday for an hour wore me out.

So I attempted to shave my legs/armpits and bikini area. Still have not showered, but I feel a little better.

I also have changed my garmet and once I got it on, I realized it DOES NOT have snaps, or an open crotch of any kind! CRAP! Plus, I did not go pee before I put it on. Shit, shit, shit! It was not easy to get on either! This SUCKS!

I have a question for you ladies...

When I took off my garmet (first time since mommy makeover), my tummy felt very weird. I think it is because I am swollen. Do you recall having a weird feeling or do you still have a weird feeling in your tummy area? I couldn't wait to get my garmet back on because I felt so uncomfortable and weird. It's hard to explain. With garmet on it feels okay.

I go back to the PS tomorrow to get my last drain out! YAY! Then off to a nice warm shower it will be!! :-)

So I need some ideas!

My husband took 2 weeks off from work to care for me and our 2 children (18 months & 2.5 years old). It has taken a toll on him and I want to do something to show that I appreciate all that he did over the course of the last 2 weeks. He exceeded my expectations and was so helpful and caring. I want him to go and do something for himself....have some alone daddy time for a day or night or something. Did anyone do anything for their significant other who helped out so much and needs a well deserved "break"? Suggestions or ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

Can't wait to shower and get rid of some of the dry crusty blood and marks from getting drawn on! I will post 2 week pics on Tuesday!

I just got my binder yesterday. My doc doesn't like to put surgical garments on his patients that have breast work also right after surgery. He says the garments will sometimes hit the scars under the breasts causing discomfort & other issues. My binder is just an elastic & velcro belt that is about 9" wide. I wrap it around my waist low enough so that it goes over my low incision & that it doesn't hit my breast scars when I sit down. I'm hoping it will improve my posture forever.

So last night I slept in my bed for the first time. I wanted to be able to lay flat and "stretch" out a little bit. Not sure if it was the greatest idea and if I should stay in my recliner longer, but I had to give it a try. I feel like I used my ab muscles too much when getting in and out of bed. I did use a stool to help me climb in and out and I rolled to my side when I was getting out. Also, trying to get situated in bed was hard. I did try to lay on one side in fetal position and I felt VERY weird....like everything was sliding to the one side, so I switched to my back. When did you finally make the switch from recliner to bed?

Hey there CP. How are you feeling today? How was that first shower?

I folded & put away a few loads of laundry (didn't lift the baskets tho) & fixed supper last night & I'm really feeling good today. Started the Arnica gel on my scars yesterday & I'm going to get some Mederma today if I can get my hubby to drive me. Breast incisions are starting to itch.

Have a great day!
  • Reply
Feeling good....going to attempt to drive around today. My mother-in-law is taking the kids for the day since I can't lift them. I am going to go look for some spanx to wear over the course of the next couple of months.

Like you, yesterday I also folded some laundry and helped with dinner. I think everyday gets better and I am slowly making progress with house "chores". I wanted to take another shower this morning, but I realized I need my husbands help with getting this one piece garment on....too hard to do by myself cause the lipo areas hurt when I try to do it by myself.

I also bought some Mederma to use and will start that tomorrow....I am weird and feel like I need to wait till the 2 week mark. I can't believe it is already 2 weeks tomorrow! The first week was a complete blur to me....don't remember much thanks to the pain meds!
I decided to start the Arnica yesterday since my incisions are pretty much closed. The only part I didn't put it was on the "holes" where my hip drains were. They still seem a little "open". They are definetly still sensitive.

My incisions around my areola are driving me crazy with itching. OMG!

I'm sure glad I don't have your type of garment. My elastic band is so easy to put on, take off. I take breaks during the day from it. It really makes me sit/stand up straight. I'm hoping it will help my posture forever. I'm always hunching -- really bad habit.

Let me know how the driving goes. I haven't tried to get up into my SUV yet. Have a great day.

I'm two weeks today!!!!! YAY! Still very swollen and unable to stand completely straight...can't wait for that! I started to use Mederma today, 3 times a day. Will post pictures in a few minutes!

I had my 3 week post-op today and PS said everything looks good! He told my that I have to continue to wear the one piece garment verses a waist cincher....still have swelling below. He said I can do light lifting and walking....that's all. I go back in a month and he said most likely he will lift most restrictions at that time (I will be 7 weeks post-op). He also told me that I can start wearing a regular bra now....even though I will probably wait until another week or so before I try any on! I want to wait for as much swelling as possible to go away before I start any kind of shopping! I am very happy with how things are looking! I can't wait to buy cute sundresses and tops!! Did I mention the cute bathing suits and lingerie! ;-) Thank goodness I gave myself a shopping allowance!!!!!! I will post more pictures tomorrow morning when I am exactly 3 weeks out! :-)

I'm 4 weeks today!!! Feeling great! Have great energy during the day, but come night I am VERY swollen and tired. I took some pictures this morning...but I started my period this morning and I am bloated....so I don't feel like I was able to get a good idea of how I am progressing. Oh well.....there is always next week.

You will notice in my pictures that there is a little red mark next to my belly button. I have a suture that is making it's way out so I called the PS and was told to cut it. I'll have my husband do it when I get home.....I'n not good with that kind of stuff.

Also in my pictures you will notice that I have compression garment marks all over the place. Especially near my breasts is really funny looking cause the garment is a one piece so it smooshes the breast in a little bit and makes it look funny. I have a different garment that doesn't do that...should have worn that one instead to get a "prettier" picture for you!

So far though I am loving my results...very happy with how everything is looking! It doesn't seem like it has been 4 weeks and I can't believe how great I am feeling! Looking forward to being able to work out again....June 1st can't come fast enough!

I have a question for you since we have the same PS...my surgery is on May 5th and I am kinda freaking out that he wants to do lipo of my entire abdomen, I am just sooooo scared I am going to end up lumpy or with wrinkly skin...question is, how did he do, do you like your results from lipo? You look awesome!!!

I am loving it so far. He did Lipo of my abdomen as well and I am still swollen in the upper ab area, but everywhere else looks great to me. I do not have any wrinkly skin. :-) I am posting my 4 week pictures in a couple of minutes.

I love you swimsuit btw.....Thanks so much for getting back to me....can't wait to see you pics =)!!!!!

I can't believe I am 5 weeks today! I went in yesterday to see the surgeon cause one of my breast is sore. I also had 2 sutures that had popped and he cut both of them. Since I am far along in my recovery it's not a concern. The sore breast is just from doing too much all of a sudden. So I need to really take it easy! Overall, he is pleased with how things are progressing as am I! I will post more pictures later when I have somebody to take them....in the meantime I did post a picture yesterday in my new bra.....36C! My desired size!! It's kinda a funky picture cause I took it with my webcam and was not standing straight...oh well, you get the idea! :-) A nice lacy bra with a bow and THIN straps! No more boring granny bras with 2 inch thick straps for this momma!

Thanks! I am loving it! Love everything so far! I have no regrets. I went and had an airbrush tan yesterday and I covered up my scars with surgical tape. With a little color on me, a new haircut & color today and freshly painted finger nails... I am feeling very sexy!
Awesome, good for you!!! I have been thinking about getting a spray tan as well once I'm healed, I first plan on firming up the rest of my body, still got some flab on arms, butt and thighs then I will get myself a spray tan and summer here I come haha!

6 weeks today!!!!!! I am feeling EXCELLENT! I feel so good! You will all be so happy you decided to do this for yourself! After going through a pregnancy/delivery we ALL deserve this for ourselves! Can't wait to have my hubby take pictures today so I can post them for you to see! Every week it gets better and better.....it may be hard to tell in the pictures, but I can see it and so can everyone else!

Hi, your story is so great. My MM is scheduled for 6/16. I have been trying to find before photos that look close to my so that I can visualize what I might look like after. It's been a bit difficult to find MM's with just lift and no augmentation. If you don't mind me asking, can you tell us what size bra cup you were in before your surgery?
You look great!

Thank you! I will be posting my 6 week pictures in about an hour!!!!!! :-)

I was a 36DD before my surgery and am now a 36C!!! What I wanted to be! When I was nursing I was a 38H! YIKES! My very first picture posted shows my before and look directly under that picture and it goes week by week!

So here are pictures from yesterday late last...

So here are pictures from yesterday late last night (6 weeks post-op). Unfortunately, you all know how swollen you can be at night and I'm so bummed that I don't have anyone to take pictures first thing in the morning because I was soooo small looking when I woke up. Also, I had an airbrush tan last week, so it is starting to fade and it looks REALLY bad in the pictures....plus I covered up my scars with surgical tape so the color wouldn't affect them and it looks super funny! At least you couldn't tell when I was in clothes what it all looks like underneath it all! LOL.......

I am so worried that w/o implants I won't have any fullness on top. It looks like you got the fullness/roundness.

I think I am pretty full! Everyone who sees me says that they think I am still pretty vulumtious (sp?). Also....that is what push up bras are for!!!!! ;-)

I'm 7 weeks today!! Feeling great! Started working...

I'm 7 weeks today!! Feeling great! Started working out yesterday and it feels sooooo good to get moving again! Went to the PS today and he is happy with how everything is looking and healing! I go back in the middle of July (I'll be 3 months out) and at that time I am hoping to be released to ab workouts! I want to tone up that 6 pack! ;-)
I'll post pictures tomorrow...I'm too tired tonight. :)

I'm really sad because I feel like not being able...

I'm really sad because I feel like not being able to work out for so long has set me back. I think my 5 week post-op pitures look the best so far. I am adding my 7 week pictures, but I feel so blah....no working out=weight gain and loss of my toned body. :-( I started back up at the gym on Monday and I am soooo out of shape...just after 7 weeks. It amazes me how fast I can get out of shape. I also am getting over a spray tan so the pictures looks weird like week 6 pictures.

I feel FANTASTIC! Best decision of my LIFE! I love everything about my body! I am 130 pounds (137.8 prior to surgery) and have 12% body fat! My breasts are 34C and I NEVER have back pain! It's a miracle!!!! I do need to post pictures, but I want to wait until I am tan and not in the evening....especially after I just finished up a session with my personal trainer! I do have some lumpy parts of the abs but the PS said that it can be that way up to a year along with some bruising I still have. He gave me the clear to work all parts of my body and said that in 3 months when I go back he wants to see my abs nice and tight and strong.
:-) I will try to post some pictures this weekend when I can do it first thing in the morning and my husband is home!

How you doing CP? Can you believe it's been over 3 months? I'm loving every minute of it now -- well almost every minute. The few things I would be happpy to give up are my sensitive spots on my TT scar where the drains came out, and the odd feeling everytime my entire abdomen decides to tighten up. It's so weird, it's not tight & within a second, it will be. Not sure what makes that happen.

Are you feeling great? Are you going to post some new pics soon?
