Not Worth It
Spent: $11,500 in California

After two and an half weeks for breast implant I see that my nipples are uneven. Today my surgeon tolm me to wait and that it is not a big deal. It is for me. I am really concerned.

Updated on Jul 29, 2009:

My surgeon told me yesterday to wear the elastic band agai, at night to help pushing down my left brest. It is that correct?

Updated on Nov 16, 2009:

I posted some pictures of my breast augmentation (performed on July 10th, 2009). You can see before and after pictures.

From the very beginning I was not particularly happy with the results. It is very obvious that my nipples are not even. I know they weren’t even before the procedure but I have to say I had higher expectations. My breasts are uneven and I have extremely noticeable scar tissue. As you can see from the pictures, the problem is very visible on the right side where the aureole is “pulled” and its color is dark red.

I followed all specific instructions given by my surgeon (massages and Kelo cot ointment and so forth) but results did not change.

What are my options? An additional surgery that I would have to pay out of pocket? And most importantly: should I trust the same surgeon to operate on me again?

Thank you for your response.

It is true that uneven nipples will be better after my implants will settle down? It is just matter of time passing?

-- Updated on Sep 11, 2009: It is now two month after my surgery. My breast is still uneven and my left breast is lower plus the scar seems to pull down, please look at the pictures. I am not very good explaining what I mean. I feel not very happy after a $ 7,000 procedure. Please somebody respond, I need somo kind of support.

-- Updated on Oct 21, 2009: I had a surgery on the first week of July. I have now hard scar tissue, harder on my right breast as you can see from the pictures. Also it is lower then the left, never changed as I was assured. It doesn't go away. I had two steroid injections one month apart in September and October. It is even worse because now I have two limps under skin. What do you think? It is just matter of time? I am worried.

-- Updated on Nov 16, 2009: Do you think I should to go back to my surgeon and undergo an additional surgery to correct the problem and to reduce the appearance of my scars? I had breast augmentation surgery on July 10, 2009. As you can see from my pictures, my scars are noticeable after the surgical incision and my skin did not heal properly

Updated on Jul 16, 2010:
Is it common after breast augmentation surgery that breasts pull/strain when patient moves her arms? I had a revision on May 26. Scar tissue was removed in both breasts and on the right side a 25 cc bigger implant was placed. (275cc on left and 300cc on right) After 7 weeks and ($4,000)out off my pocket lthis is what I look like. Still a lot of straining and my aureola scars both are pulling.

I am really concerned and sad. After spending almost $12,000 for my breast here I am.

Revision was of course out of my pocket. I ended up spending more then $11,500 for breast augmentation and "fix" the problems with really sad results.

Updated on 12 Feb 2011:
Nine months after revision and poor results my PS suggested to correct the scars that are pulling by injecting Radiesse. He said that the filler will be injected right in the scars. Radiesse will fill up the gap made by the syringe as a cushion. In his opinion the procedure will push the scar tissue and the pulling I have now would be mitigate. (I do not have body fat to use).
However he cannot guarantee the result. Radiesse had been used by him in acne scar, never in big scars as mine.
He asked me $700 per side. I do not know what to do.

My Doctor: Name not provided

My rating:
Not sure about any recommendation. Even after revision I do not see much of improvement. Actually the only thing I can see is more pulling from both side. Help!!!

Hi Sad Girl,

Another RealSelf has a similar issue to yours. She was two weeks out of surgery when she posted this thread, so perhaps you can pull some advice from it?: Uneven nipples after Breast Augmentation and Lift

Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.

We send out all reviews and questions to doctors automatically every day. Hopefully some of them will stop by and provide their opinion as well.

Hi Sad girl,

Would you happen to have a picture that shows your nipple positioning BEFORE the augmentation? It might be helpful to doctors to see a comparison.

Additionally, doctors oftentimes may not respond because they've already answered a question about a similar situation elsewhere on RealSelf.

If you haven't checked it out yet, I'd encourage you to look at the page Sharon linked to above, as it provides answers from several doctors to a question about a situation similar to yours.

Good luck!

Your nipples are indeed uneven. However judging from your pictures they may have been very uneven before the surgery. Unless a breast lift is performed to even out the nipples, the unevenness of the nipples does not go away. Although your left breast appears slightly higher, pushing down the implant further will increase the apparent asymmetry of the nipples. You may want to discuss these specific issues with your doctor.

Thank you for your opinion Doctor Moelleken. Yes, I was uneven before the surgery. You can see my "before" pictures. However the surgeon told me that he was going to do his best to correct the unevenness. I would appreciate a honest scenario: the diffent size the unevenness of the nipples do not go away. Three months after I am not so pleased about the procedure.

More than 10 months after getting breast augmentation (silicone implants were placed under the muscle), I have noticeable scar tissue and with ordinary movements of my arms tissue “pulls” and enhances appearance of scars – See attached pictures. It is common?
