Well worth it. I am 5' tall and weigh 130. I had 36DDD spilling. I'm now a 36C and my surgery was 13 days ago. I just switched from a compression bra to a sports bra.

No pain medications any longer, sleeping comfortable, doing light cardio at gym and back to work next Monday. Surgery went well and I couldn't be happier with the results. Nicely shaped, proportionate to my body size and my nipples are responsive and nicely positioned. I feel like a new person!

I did it because of neck and back pain, posture, desire to shop for normal clothes and not be that chick with the big boobs.

Congrats on getting this done! I'm glad it's made your body more in line with what you want it to be. A great thing to do for yourself, truly!

(Did you maybe miss a couple zeros on the price? It says you spent $75)

Thanks so much for posting your experience here on RealSelf.

It was covered by my health insurance because it was medically necessary. I do not know the cost. My co-pay was $75. The site has no option for covered by insurance.

We are the same size and I am having my reduction in the 10th o May...SO EXCITED!! I can't wait!! I hope that my reduction goes as well as yours.

So, if your not going to be know as the girl with the big boobs....what will they call you now?? I know...The hot chick with the new perky rack?? **lol**

I can't wait for the day, when my boobs don't get into the room...about 2 minutes before the rest of me!!! The idea of being able to buy off the rack...OMG I can't wait!!!

I am so happy with my results. Make sure you rest and take it easy the first week. Give yourself time to heal. Take the pain meds on schedule and you'll be up and around in a couple days. Make sure you have the stuff you need at arm height. You can't reach up for a couple days. Honestly the toilet paper needs to be out in front of you too.
I went to Victorias secret and bought lingerie- size medium. So excited....i almost cried. Whole new wardrobe coming soon. Boobs right in front, nipples back where they belong. I look like I've lost 20 pounds. I feel terrific. It is 2 days shy of a month. My breasts are shaping up nice, nipples are responsive and pain is minimal. Bra totally covers incisions.
Good luck!!! I hope everything goes well for you. Be excited. Every day as you start getting back into your day, you'll notice the difference. You'll smile every time. I guarantee it.

I know...new boobs YEAH!!!! I am so excited. No more freak sized bras!!

No worries about the pain meds....I don't do pain!! That is why god made pain meds...right?? My hubby is making it his job to keep me pain free...bless his heart!!

Oh that is a great tip about the TP...keeping it out in front of me....I did not even thinking about having to reach for the roll!! The hubby is planning to do "everything" for me.. BUT... a girl has to draw a line someplace!

I hope I am as happy as your are. I will let you know when I buy off the rack at VS...I am sure I will cry too... I CAN'T WAIT!!

Yeah wait until the first time you go to pull your pants down.... Then you realize you can't wipe too well either. Wet wipes are pretty handy. :)
One week from my surgery I was on my own. No problems really. Sore but able to get around.
2 weeks after I was able to switch from the compression bra to sports bras. I didn't like them and ended up getting some barely there cotton bras and a warners wire free padded. The bras sit where the incisions are so it's hard to find one that is comfy. You just have to deal really. It gets better week three. I tucked some gauze or a cotton sock where it rubbed.
The bruising and swelling is a bit scary when you first look but it gets better and before you know it they look like boobs again. You will immediately feel the weight difference so you won't care anyway. That and the drugs and the tiny boob profile!!
Take pictures every 5 days or so....you'll see how they are healing. It's pretty cool.

And I highly recommend the jockey elance supersoft camis. Great to wear under the compression bra if the material is itchy and also great to wear around the house when you can finally go bra free!! Supersoft and gentle on the bare nipples (which may be a bit sore). I wear it always under anything else if no bra. Feels the best.

I can't think of anything else!! If you have any questions let me know. I have no problems sharing if it helps. I have two friends that had it done and their tips were very useful.

Ok, so I have a question about the bras.... After surgery what kind of cra should i wear right away? Ive been doing some research and it says regular sports bras but I was thinking I may need ore support than that... in your opinion what is best and where can i buy them?
Iowa71 (RealFriend) 14 Aug 2011
Thanks for the info about the wet wipes...ran out and bought them today. Hadn't even given that a thought. That is the thing I love about this site...it's so full of the information you really need!

We have to tell Miss Kimmer about the wet wipes...she might want to add them to her lists!

I will just have a wrap and then a compression bra for the first week and then I got to just the compression bra. I ordered 2 of them, based on Kimmers advise. As she points out...you have to ware one and wash one...at some point. I found a wonderful bra on line and hope I love it as much as Kimmer loved it. I also ordered a lighter compression bra that I can ware at about week 3. These bras have no wires and the bands ride lower so that they won't come into contact with the scar line.
As for the bruising....I understand I will have Franken Boobies ***lol*** I am really happy that I wont have stiches...glue, tape and internal stiches...my doc ROCKS!!!

That is a great idea...to take pictures every 5 days...I will do that. Are you gonna post your pictures??? I think I might...I think it might help others. I know that Kimmers picutes really helped me.

Did you ever thing you would say...little go...braless!!!??? I CANT WAIT!! I have a couple of these jockey camis....now they will be too big so I will have to get some new ones!

I am always open to advise so... please keep it coming!!! This site has some of the most helpful and supportive folks EVER!!! I mean really...who is gonna tell you about the whole wet whip thing...if not someone who has gone through it!!

$75 was my co-pay. I have independent health. It was pre-authorized due to medical necessity under their criteria.
