5th and Last Month

I started on my fifth and last month today and I am ready to be done with this treatment. The monthly checkups and side effects are getting annoying. Although I'm on my fifth month, my skin hasn't completely cleared. I have three active breakouts on my right cheek and I still have hyper pigmentation. Definitely an improvement from when I started, but hopefully it'll get better by the time I'm done. As far as side effects, my hair is still falling out, my lips are dry, and now I have eczema on my hands (Tried to upload a picture but I was having trouble). I have dry patches on my shoulders and back, which itch. Since my dermatologist has been increasing the dosage as the months progress I'll be done with the treatment sooner. He explained that I will have reached the cumulative dosage by the end of the this month.

4 Month Update

I started on my 4th month on 10/27/15. Since my last update the dosage has changed; I was on 60 mg for month 3 and now I'm on 80 mg. The side effects have remained the same despite the increase in dosage: very dry lips and hair loss. The hair loss has definitely been difficult for me. I have lost so much hair that now I'm afraid whenever I wash my hair (which I have limited to once a week). However, I have noticed such improvement with my skin that I am willing to push through. I discussed this with my dermatologist, who recommended vitamin C and Zinc supplements to help with the hair loss (fingers crossed).
As per my skin, I am very happy. I have like 3 or 4 active pimples, but nothing compared to what I had before. My forehead has been clear for months now...not a single pimple or scar!!! My face feels very smooth, which hasn't been the case in so many years. Fortunately the skin on my face hasn't been super dry, so my makeup looks nice and stays put all day. I have noticed dry patches around my shoulders, so I have been using Aquaphor on that. Cortibalm has been a lifesaver for my lips. My lips have not cracked or bled and it is the only thing that keeps them moistened for long periods of time.
Good luck to all of you on your accutane journey!
