I had the implants due to always being very self-conscious about my flat chest (Size A cup almost too large!) The physician and staff were excellent. Results looked great once swelling had subsided. Was very happy until I started my problems with scar tissue build up three years later.

Updated on Jan 23, 2010:
I had under-muscle saline breast implants done in March 2004, then in Dec. 2008 had to have scar tissue removed from the left side due to extreme swelling and painfulness. The doctor opened the original incision under the breast and removed scar tissue around the bottom half of the implant. In Sept. 2008 the left breast had again hardened and the breast implant was bulging at the bottom, I once again had to have scar tissue removed, this time from the upper-half of the implant through an areola incision. The doctor also suggested taking Vitamin's C & E. Within 2 months of the last surgery, I once again noticed the same side bulging from the bottom. I've held off surgery with noticeable help from the Vitamin E, but now am going to have to go back again as the breast is once again hardening. My doctor has told me that he doesn't think that replacing the implant will make any difference in the creation of scar tissue, that I was obviously just one of the people who were prone to the problem. My question is this: Is my doctor correct in his thinking that it would do no good to have the implant replaced, that I would still have the same problem? Or should I see another doctor (no others available in my area, next nearest is 70 miles) and get a second opinion? The doctor in question is certified and has at least 25 years experience in cosmetic surgery. -- Updated on Jan 23, 2010: I saw my doctor the other day and this time he did give me the option of having the implant replaced. He said that there was no real way of knowing rather it would help or not, but at this stage, there wasn't much else to try. Has anyone else had any luck with this? Did the scar tissue come back again anytime soon?

My Doctor: name not provided

My doctor is very dedicated to helping me with my problems and has given me serious discounts on all procedures to help me with my scar tissue problems. He seems to be almost as frustrated as I am over not having been able to solve it yet. Others I've met who've had him to do the same procedure seem to be doing just great.

I had one of my implants replaced due to scaring/encapsulation. My right breast never really softened up after the surgery and over time just got harder and more painful. It also started to look deformed. I've had the new one for over a year now and it is harder than my left one but is not anywhere near as painful, not disformed in anyway and seems to be softening with massage.
