55yr Old Facelift, Upper Eyelids and Liposuction - Bondi, AU

Aging is never kind and dieting has its limits, so surgery for sagging jowls and eyelids, together with removal of persistent fat around the tummy and breast area seemed a good option. Whilst my physical appearance was not distressing (to myself anyway) I do like to look the best I can. Many friends/colleagues generally sneer at cosmetic surgery so I needed to be convinced I was doing the right thing. There is only so much useful information you can collect from the internet so a lot depended on the experience at first meeting with the plastic surgeon. I couldn't have asked for a better first consultation. The team at Silkwood Medical were fantastic from the moment I stepped through the door. As I live in New Zealand and was having the surgery in Australia, there had been some email communications prior to the first visit. These were helpful without any "hard sell". The team at the practice were all lovely and welcoming. The consultation with Amira was friendly and relaxed, and at the same time extremely informative. As a tip, I think doing a bit of internet research beforehand helps with understanding as there is a lot of information to take in. There was ample time for questioning and no problem with follow up questions by email/phone. We discussed the procedures fully, with the pros and cons and expected outcomes honestly explained. At the end of the consultation I had a very clear understanding of what to expect.
The decision was made to have the liposuction surgery one week with the facelift and eyelid surgery a week later. That was certainly a good idea. Whilst neither surgeries were particularly painful, it was good to only have to concentrate on one area of the body at a time - sleeping elevated for the facelift would have been more difficult if i had had the truncal liposuction at the same time.
Facial swelling was not particularly obvious at two weeks. Residual numbness around the cheek bones and jaw makes shaving feel weird so I have let my beard grow. I returned to work at three weeks with no-one noticing any difference other than looking well and a new beard. I take that as success story. I am amazed the scars are so discreet even at three weeks which is a great compliment to Amira's surgical skills.
