Tummy Tuck update
Here are some recent pics- my abs still look amazing 6 years after my abdominoplasty and 2 years after the birth of my daughter.

I had my son at age 34. I had always been thin and athletic (I've been a runner since I was 14). I gained 40 lbs with my pregnancy and my "baby bump" was huge. Even though I lost all the baby weight within a few months, I still looked pregnant, and my abs were squishy and soft. I had developed diastasis recti and an umbilical hernia as a result of the pregnancy. I'm a physician myself, and I wanted to go to the best, which is why I went to Dr. Frank Richards in Bethesda. I had done extensive research into plastic surgeons in the DC area, and I did get consultations from several other surgeons as well, but as soon as I met Dr. Richards I knew he was the best surgeon. He has a wonderful bedside manner and his office staff were fantastic. I was nervous leading up to the surgery, but everything went perfectly. My pain was very well managed postop with the pain pump, and within two weeks I was back at work again. My results have been absolutely beyond amazing. After surgery, my abs looked even BETTER than they had preop, even though I've always had a flat stomach! The surgery literally changed my life. I went from wearing baggy tops and feeling bad about myself to feeling great wearing a bikini on the beach and wearing cute fitted tops again. Fast forward 4 years, and my husband and I found out I was pregnant with baby #2, at age 40! I was very worried about my abdominoplasty; I thought I would develop recurrent diastasis recti. My "baby bump" was much smaller the second time around, and I gained less weight (25 lbs). I gave birth to my daughter on August 1, 2015, and within days it was obvious my abs had not separated. Within a week of giving birth, my abs were flat again (see photos below taken 14 days after I delivered my daughter). Because Dr. Richards had done such a wonderful job repairing my diastasis, my abs stayed together during my second pregnancy. I am beyond thrilled!!!! Having my abdominoplasty with Dr. Richards was a fantastic experience and worth every penny. I would HIGHLY recommend him as not only a skilled surgeon, but as a very responsive physician who truly cares about his patients.
