Dr. Naficy said he is conservative about these and that in person, the change tends to be more dramatic.

Just finished my pre-op!

Can't believe it's almost here! The pre-op was easily, a nurse took my BP, explained all the releases, gave me scripts for my meds and talked about what will happen the week of the surgery. I'm grateful to hear that the surgery is scheduled for early in the morning! Dr Naficy spent plenty of time with me and let me ask whatever questions I wanted- then he took some more presurgery pictures. Then I signed my life and wallet away but honestly it's all worth it! I'm really not as concerned now than I was even last week. Now it's just collecting what I need bedside for recovery. Does arnica gel really make an impact on bruising? Anyone have advice for me on things to pick up for my recovery? I have Swiss health cold eye packs, u pillow, humidifier, throat spray and fruit packets.

Getting ready for surgery part one...

My first review was vague in that I didn't go over the fact that I am not doing this surgery just so people won't comment on my nose anymore, or so I don't get called names.. people can always find something to be rude about and that won't change after rhinoplasty.. But what will change, for me, is the constant thinking, worrying, hiding that I have done for many years now. I can't wait to wear my hair off my forehead, quite hiding behind long hair (I love my long hair but don't want to have to avoid fun cuts just to camouflage and bring attention away from my nose). I wish I could go back to my wedding day and not fret so much when I felt like the photographer was getting my profile in a pose. I wish I could go back to all the days when pictures mattered, when confidence mattered...

I have high blood pressure. I've had it since I was 14, I take two meds and will be adding a third this week so that I can get my BP under control even more before surgery. I've cut out fast food, eating out, breads, pastas and candy. I've filled my fridge with salmon, chicken breast, eggs, tofu, rice, pita, hummus, veggies, salad makings, fruits, and yogurts. I'm working out with cardio and weights at least four times per week and yoga another once or twice. I'm determined to lose about 10 lbs and hopefully about ten points on my BP measures. I don't want to risk complications with bleeding or bruising...

I hope I will be one of the many folks on this website who say, "The only thing I can't believe is that I didn't do this sooner!"

So far Dr. Naficy has been calm, confident and friendly with me. His PCC Leslie is incredibly sweet, patient and welcoming. My wait time was about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment but it was clear they were very busy and spent as much time with me as I needed once I was called back. I never felt rushed.
