I consulted with Dr. Chiu about addressing some scarring I have on my forehead and she recommended a series of treatments with the Palomar Lux 1540 Fractional laser. I completed three treatments with the last having been performed a little over a year ago. Since then I've not only seen very little improvement in the scarring, but have also been left with additional scarring, enlarged pores, sagging and shiny looking skin. When I saw the doctor for a follow up appointment, I had my hair cut in such a way that my bangs covered the scaring and additional damage, making it impossible for the doctor to make any judgement on the effectiveness of the treatment at first glance. However, she walked into the room and immediately told me that my results looked great. I have a feeling this must be what she tells all of her patients regardless of whether it's true. I was so disgusted, I left without really confronting her about the damage and in hindsight I wish I had taken the time to make her acknowledge what she's done to me.

I followed all the pre and post procedure instructions religiously, so either I was a bad candidate for the procedure and the doctor should have realized this, or the technician was too aggressive, or fractional lasers are crap. I'm inclined to believe it's some combination of the last two as there are a lot of negative reviews about the Lux 1540 specifically and laser treatments in general online (check out the cosmetic procedure review website, realself). My point being, if you are considering having a laser treatment done at this office or any office, you need to really consider how bad the problem you're trying to address is and whether you're willing to risk making it worse.
