19 years old & too much of a good thing continued

The reason I got this surgery was mostly to help my back and neck issues, as I said before I have scoliosis. Having large breasts did not help this and often resulted into a sore back and neck after lots of activity. I also played sports and trying to hold my breasts down with 2-3 sports bras was uncomfortable and made running difficult. Before getting the breast reduction I had tried the chiropractor and massage therapy multiple times all without long last relief of back pain.
Tips for getting good results: really listen to your doctor, they do know what is best for you! I felt great the day after surgery, I was kind of surprised it didn't feel as down. This made recovery difficult because I thought I could do most things myself, like opening the freezer, car doors, getting a coffee cup from the cupboard. With all of these you really need to remind yourself to ask for help! I do recommend having someone help you wash your hair the week or two post op. I was lucky enough to have an aunt who lived down the street with an in home salon.
Cons: very little negative about the whole process! After surgery I did get migraines from taking percaset. I called my doctor after about two days of this and she helped me figure out how to solve my problem and still manage my pain with taking one ibuprofen along with the percaset. Another is that the ace bandage after surgery is very itchy and somewhat uncomfortable because it slips off. Getting into a sports bra was the best thing ever! The other would be that before my surgery I was given a patch behind my ear for motion sickness. I took this off three days post op and must have touched my eye after because one of my eyes dialated. This caused bluriness and headaches while this occurred for about 2 days.
Recovery: lots of laying around, resting and Netflix watching. Luckily my grandma was able to help me for about a week after surgery which helped. I was using my arms more than I had realized at my 2 week post op appointment and was told I had more swelling than expected. I then realized I needed to grab my large water bottle with my less dominant hand. Open and close doors with two hands. When you are allowed to switch to a sports bra it is nice to air dry after showers for about 30 minutes but make sure you wear the sports bra 24/7. My body did reject two stitches, one on each T section, this was not from anything that I had done wrong. It only left two pinhole size holes that closed in about a week. Still recovering with scar massage and scar cream! Keeping my arms down and not lifting heavy things because I am just over a month post op.

I wanted to get this procedure done because I had back and neck problems growing up, such as scoliosis, carrying extra weight in your breasts is not easy! Being so young and having the largest friends out of the group led to teasing and a lack of confidence. I am glad I took charge of my body and helped myself for the rest of my life. After getting this procedure I feel so satisfied and confident! I'm glad I did not wait any longer to have this procedure done!
