I had surgery 14 days ago and I am not sure if I made the right decision. I m 48 year old women. I wanted my heavy eyes not to look tired. But now I think the Dr took to much off.

My eyelids above the incision are lumpy and I have some small bumps. the edge of my right eye incision opened up a little when the stitches were taken out and I still have a small scab there. I am hoping my eyes will even out if they don't I don't know what to do.

Thanks for the support. I am feeling better about my eyes, they are starting to look more normal. Although my eyelids feel numb when I apply eyeshadow have you experienced that as well?

I am 7 weeks post op now a lot has changed I still have hooding on my eyes my right more than my left. This was also the heavier eyelid before. There is still some numb feeling on my eyelids and they still feel a little tight.
I continue to get hard bumps on my incision line. The Dr is still not concerned about this.
On the far corners of my eyes I have lumps not sure what they are from but they make my crows feet look weird.
I feel like everyone looks at me strange but my family says not. Definitely was not expecting to feel this way.

Great review?

My Doctor: name not provided

Bedside manor He didn't seem concerned about the incision opening up. I should have done more research on him before I said yes

I went to the doctor last week and he said the bulges could be residual swelling (lasts up to a year) or fat that was not removed. He is going to see me at one year and we will make a decision regarding revision surgery (taking out a little more fat). This would be done inside the eye this time. I do not want another surgery - recovery time took too long. I am going to email and ask about cortisone shots to see if that is an option. thanks for the suggestion lamac!

I am over six months post op now. Still have the bulges under the eyes outer corner. This makes my eyes look weird as well, I did not have these "lumps" before. I am making an appt to have the doctor address this issue.

Went back to the Dr he gave me a cortisone shot in the bulges it has helped they are getting smaller now.
How are your eyes doing?

Thanks I am starting to feel more normal. It is now 8 weeks post op. I think my eyes are somewhere in the middle they do look more awake. We just went to my husbands company picnic and no one said anything but I felt like people were still looking at me. I have small lumps by the corners of my eyes they kind of look like cysts. So I thought they were looking at that.
The Dr put shots of cortisone in them to break it up but that has not helped I need to go back and see him again.

My laser I am very pleased with that the skin is soft and smooth and the deep wrinkles are less noticeable. The skin under my eyes is also thinner I am 48 but it seems to be good. How did your Dr do your under bleph? My Dr removed the bags from the inside so I have no incision on my lower bleph.

Hey, thanks for the update. I wanted to comment on two things from your post to give you some reassurance. First, the hooding you still have. I know this sounds strange, but that is a GOOD thing. With my upper bleph, I asked for very subtle results. I wanted it to be so subtle that only I would know I had anything done. My results are more in the middle I would say, neither aggressive nor conservative. This results in too much change in appearance. I have suffered from feeling like I don't recognize myself in the mirror. By still having some hooding, you have preserved who you are and your own appearance. Too much of a change is really, really difficult to get used to.

As for feeling like others are staring, well I felt that way, too. My grandmother and the whole family came to my town for her 90th birthday 10 weeks after my procedure. I was catatonic and anxious to the hilt about my relatives seeing me and wondering what the hell I had done to myself. I was sure they were looking at me weird. Finally I confessed to a couple people (my grandmother, one of my brothers, and one of my sisters-in-law) and, much to my surprise, they hadn't noticed! And here I was sure that they had been looking at me strangely the whole time. Either I had imagined they were looking at me weird OR they were reacting to my own skittish behavior since I was so nervous. If others reassure you that you don't look odd, then relax. They truly don't see what you see, just like you don't particularly notice their flaws, right?

By the way, how is the laser procedure turning out? I am considering that to improve the texture of the skin under my eyes but I'm nervous since the skin there is so thin after the lower bleph.

I had upper and lower done in January. Numbness lasts for about a month but then disappears. Swelling (for me) lasted for 4 or 5 months (I have hypothyroidism). At six months now, scars are almost invisible under eye and barely visible on top of eye when closed. Still a little swelling under the eye (feels a little tender). Hang in there - it takes about 5 months to feel and look your best. Tissue can take up to a year to fully heal.

Hi there, I think it is too soon to decide if your surgery is a success or not. I had the upper bleph four months ago and also felt that the doc took too much. While I still sort of feel that way when I apply my makeup, the rest of the time I am not thinking about it and the results look nice above my eyes (I also had the lower bleph and am NOT happy with how that turned out). Give it more time before you judge the outcome--in three months or so you will feel more like yourself.

Give it time to heal. I had the same thing 2-3 weeks after. Your eyelids will be lumpy until they are fully healed which I have been told can be a year. But only I am the one that can see the lumps and scars on the lids. Scab will go away and everything will heal and smooth out in time.
