I have to make a comment about Dr. Serrano. He spent so much time with me; I asked him if I was his only patient. He laughed and said no I wasn’t. It was such a pleasant experience compared to medical care in the USA. Another thing I should mention, language was not a barrier except when I tried to speak Spanish.

I met Dr. Cardenas the day of the surgery. She came in and explained what she was planning on doing and marked up my face, I assuming where her incisions were going to be. She was very professional yet quite cordial. Then she played with my eyelids and with a big smile, said we need to do those, which we did a year and half later (another review on here). Once in the operating room, Dr. Serrano was also there. I felt like I was going to be in good hands, which as it turned out, I was. I was under conscious sedation while the surgery was being performed; I remember listening to the music, the Beatles. Unfortunately the IPhone batteries ran down before they were done and the music died. Other than some teasing of the doctors by me about the music, everything went extremely well. As I wrote in another review about my eyelid lift, Dr. Carmina Cardenas, according to what a nurse at the recovery center told me after that surgery, is the best cosmetic surgeon in Tijuana. That is saying a lot since Tijuana is one of the top medical tourism places for cosmetic surgery. Following my back surgery and before my cosmetic procedure, I was the only non-cosmetic surgery patient there and I saw a lot of people come and go, some of whom I am still in contact with.
