1 year today.
Hi guys its Rhie again. So its 1 year exactly post op. Thought I would check in with you all again. I am still on my path of success, As anyone who has read my first few posts would know, I started out at 125.8KGs pre optifast and 110.7 on my surgery day. I now weigh in at 67.2kgs so from my original weight I have lost 56.8Kgs. I have plateaued since probably 6 months in, losing about 1-2 kgs a month since then. In saying that I haven't really been on any sort of diet to speak of since then. Just eating really small portions. I have adapted really well to the portion size change and I have got to know my body really well. I know what I can eat and I can tell when I have hit my limit before it gets to the point of being sick from eating too much. The loose skin is a real issue for me, I look in the mirror when I'm nakie, and I see this beautiful new body, covered up by a layer of hanging skin. I know it can take up to 2 years, after you have lost the weight for skin to come back to its best possible elasticity, but I hate it I really really hate it. It takes so much away from what I've achieved. I now take a 10 in clothing size, I have never been a 10, I went from 16 girls straight to 14 ladies when I was 12 years old at my biggest i was a size 22. Now when you think of a size 10, you think of hot right... wrong... i dont look like u'r ideal 10 in the mirror nude, i look like a 16 still, it just all sags :( I'm not trying to scare anyone I just want you to know whats coming. It will get better though, that's what keeps me going, knowing all it takes is time.
I am still happy with having the surgery, it was the best thing I ever could have done for myself. My pcos is getting better, I know this because my chest hair in particular is lightening and thinning, my chin hair is also starting to thin a bit and I am having almost regular cycles now for the last 5-6 months. My baby dream is so close I can feel it.

9 months post op.
Hi guys. Its rhie again... its now been 9 months since my surgery and i thought since it had been 2 month post op since my last update i should probably check back in with you all. I started out at 125.8kgs, pre optifast. On my surgery date i was 110.7kgs. I am 157cm tall and my ideal weight should be between 56 and 64kgs. I currently weigh 72.4kgs so i am 12.4 kgs away from my own personal goal weight of 60kgs. I have had no complications whatsoever, occasionally i will over eat and i will be sick, but other than that i am so much happier than i have in my entire life. I lost most of the total weight in the first 5-6 months... the last 3 months i have really started to plateu having only dropped about 4 kgs in the whole 3 months, i must admit, although i havent been eating alot of sweets i am noticing alot more fats and oils entering my diet, it makes it very hard to eat healthy all the time when you are cooking for a family of 4 adults. I have been taking metformin to help increase my chances of having cycles and its been working but omg.... the chocolate cravings during my period were horrendous!!! Im not used to having a "normal" cycle so for me it was totally strange... but worth the pain for the hope that i will be able to be a mummy soon.
4 weeks post op.
Hi guys its Rhie again. I am now 4 weeks post op. Since starting the optifast (I weighed in at 10.7 kg) I have lost a total of just over 15 kg now weighing in at 95 kg as of this mornings weighing. So over a 6 week period thats an average of 2.5kg each week. Im so happy I have done this. I have had no complications post op. I felt like I had really bad period pains for about the first week and then it was gone. I am a smoker and I found coughing to be a little painful but I just needed to hold a pillow against myself to be ok. I went on a liquid only diet for the first 4 days then progressed to mushies. It was supposed to be 2 weeks of each but I had no trouble or pain with the fast progression. I was on solids again by 2 weeks post op but I had no problems with keeping it down or pain there either. I just couldnt do the mushies it was physically making me sick and I had no option but to try something solid and see how it went... it went good. I had no pain. I had a lamb loin chop on the 3rd week. I didnt tolerate that very well but soft meat like mince and sausages were fine. Now 4 weeks in I can eat anything I like.. my tates have changed quite a bit though. Im not interested in chocolate or icecream so much anymore and I cant stand bread.. I dont tollerate it very well and just the tought makes my stomach feel bloated haha. Anyway thanks for reading. Good luck to you all on your future endeavours. Xoxo.
