I have had pain in the back and neck for many years. I also have a lot of headaches. I have been thinking about having a reduction for a long time. I am very nurvous about doing it. I know it will help me in the long run. I will be having the breast reduction the 1st week of September 2011. If you have anything to share with me please do so. My insurance is covering the reduction.

Thanks

I have a few more weeks to go and now my nerves are kicking in. I just got the paper work back from my doctor to give to my job. They put on the paper work for me to be off 6-8 weeks. My PS also told me if I needed to be off longer than that to let him know.

I still have a lot of stuff to get. Let me know if you have any thing u used that would be good for me to buy.

I see some people going back to work after a week. Is that OK???

Now the count down starts 10/4/11

Hey girl!  Welcome to RealSelf and I am so happy you have joined us.

You are going to be so happy having smaller breasts.   I also had neck, shoulder and back pain for years.  Mine was gone from the minute I sat up in the recovery room.

You will be glad that you did this.   Keep posting.

I am ready for the surgery. How long do you think I will be off of work?
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 5 Aug 2011

Two weeks is good as long as you have a mild job.  But they do say no lifting for a month.

So Ready 5 Aug 2011
I do a lot of typing on the computer. We are always busy.
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 5 Aug 2011

You will be fine at two weeks.  You will be sore and bruised but this will be manageable.  Do you have the option to take 3 weeks off?

So Ready 5 Aug 2011
Yes I can take off up to 3 months if I need to.
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 5 Aug 2011

Now that is really nice.   Then ask to have 3-4 weeks off and if you are feeling fabulous you can go back early.

So Ready 5 Aug 2011
I will. Thanks

How does a stay at home Mom "take off" work? What do you all recommend?
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 8 Aug 2011

If you have relatives that could take the kids for the first week that would be ideal.  If not maybe they could come stay with you.

Another option is to have a sitter some into your home for a couple of weeks.  I guess it all depends on how old your children are.

So Ready 8 Aug 2011
How old are your kids? Maybe a real good friend could come stay with you for a week.
singingmicki 8 Aug 2011
My girls are 13 and 11 and my boys are 8 and 5.... the older can take care of themselves just fine - it's just that I can't trust them with their fighting! It would drive me up a wall... they would probably be on their best behavior for like a day - then the compassion would wear off quickly. I'm hoping to have the surgery done before my Mom goes back to Florida - my Mother-in-Law is also in town, so I guess we'll manage.... now let's get on with it already insurance!!! Thanks Ladies!
So Ready 8 Aug 2011
Thats what im waiting on also. INSURANCE!!!
LR128 9 Aug 2011

Congratulations and Good luck. What procedure did your surgeon recommend
So Ready 12 Aug 2011
thanks
darkandlovely 12 Aug 2011
Congratulations, I'm very happy for you and wish you the best of luck during your surgery. If you don't mind me asking did both your primary doctory and plastic surgeon have to submit information to your insurance company or what was the process to get it approved through insurance?
So Ready 12 Aug 2011
Thanks
So Ready 12 Aug 2011
I think my surgeon did.
luckylady123 16 Aug 2011
Hi Juicy, Just curious who your insurance carrier is? I live in Austin also and have my consultation in a few weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for insurance to approve.
singingmicki 12 Aug 2011
Dear darkandlovely... any and all documentation you can get from your doctors - OB/GYN's, Chiropractor's, Primary Doc... etc... will help your case. I had all the above send documentation they had and a letter to my plastic surgeon so they could send the file all together.
darkandlovely 13 Aug 2011
@ singingmicki thanks for the info. I am hoping to have surgery at some point next year and have been doing alot of research so that I can have this covered by Insurance.
