8 days post op

I'm actually laying down at the time that I took this photo, but it is the first time post op that I had seen my new tummy, and I was really happy with what I saw.

I'm a little over a week out from the surgery at this point, and feel pretty good. The doctor took out the drains at one week post sx. It was only slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. I have to wear the compression garment for one more week and then will transition to a girdle. Although I hate this garment, whenever I take it off to shower, which the doctor gave me permission to do after one week post op; I feel like my stomach is going to fall out of my body.

Although his whole experience has not been nearly as traumatic as I expected, I am already anxious to get back to feeling like myself.

Four pounds of tummy taken off

I forgot to mention, that Dr. Serota told me they took off 4 pounds of tummy.

Day 3

So I woke up again this morning, and again was not in very much pain. I'm excited to get out of the hospital. It's the day before Thanksgiving, and I can't wait to be home with my family.

At this point, I'm taking only about half a Percocet every four hours, as I'm just not in very much pain. Additionally, the meds are making me tired, so I don't want to be on them. They are also warning me, that I need to be careful not to let my body get to be in a place where it's in pain, because it's hard to catch up with the pain once that starts. So, even though I don't want to be taking any pain meds at all right now, I'll go ahead and continue with half a pill every four hours.

The worst pain, is definitely occurring when I have to go to the restroom. Getting up out of bed and having to use my abdominal muscles, seems to be what is causing the pain. But, overall, I'm really not in much pain.
