I'm entering week four and have to say that I feel so much better. Alot has changed..the drains are gone, sleeping better (and in bed),I'm not bent over and not taking any pain meds. On the flip side of that coin Alot is still the same...still wearing my binder 24/7(bought a girdle as it fits better under clothes), still taking showers (cant submerge until 6 weeks post op), still taking miralax to help with constipation and yes still SWOLLEN! The swelling has subsided some, just a small layer over my torso, little pouch in pubis area and lower left abdomen. My incision is still very raised but healing well. ( I know because it itches like crazy!)

May 28th was D-Day! After 3 years of praying, saving, researching, interviewing and preparing...I did it! OMG what have I done? The last 3 days have been from hell! I'm swollen and bruised beyond recognition. The pain medicine, controls the pain but makes me feel like I'm out of control! my conversations last about 3-7minutes, then I'm out again or talking about things that happened in '99. I also feel lke I'm on some sort of emotional roller coaster- can't wait for this stage to pass over. My PS called in a new pain prescription so I'm starting to feel somewhat better. Oh yeah the binder and drains are super annoying and painful- the walking bent over is terrible...I'm just unhappy I will post when things get better! (they just have to get better)

Hi, I hope ur feeling much better. I'm having my tt done on the 17th of this month, I too have anxiety attacks just thinking about it. Is there anything you think you would have done differently to prepare you for the surgery??
Hi there, I hope that I didn't scare you with my initial post. Today is day 4 and I went in for a follow up, but before I got there the dreaded bowel movement happened!! I was off to a good start and then... constipation. Luckliy my doctor had me on a full liquid diet 7 days prior to surgery and since I've eaten soft foods. So I'm sure this could have been worse. I've been taking the colace as prescribed but it obviously isn't/wasn't enough. After my visit my ps told me try everything, enemas, suppositories etc... So off to the pharmacy I go, luckily the pharmacist spared me the expense and agony of buying and trying all those products. They suggested Miralax- 2 hours later I had a tolerable movement. God Bless em! SO I will be adding a dose of miralax in my morning juice to keep things moving. I haven't been able to revel in or enjoy my preliminary results too worried about side affects! I will keep posting hope this helps!!
Things will certainly get better. You're in a really difficult spot right now. Keep us updated, please!
I had mine done 4 days before yours (May 24th) and every day gets better and better. I had a major constipation issue as well and ended up taking Dulcolax and then had a Fleet Enema. I'm back on track with that, and standing much straighter than I was just a few days ago. I feel so great about my new shape already, and reading other posts makes me realize that things will only get better from here. Hang in there!
Hang in there! I promise it will get better. The first two weeks for me were also hell and this is totally normal. You will be on an emotional roller coaster, hurt, swell, and want to cry. All normal...even though it doesn't feel so normal. If you feel like crying go ahead and just have a good cry...that does help. By week three I turned a corner and started to feel human again. Although the swelling could last for weeks the pain will get easier each day. It will be worth it in the end...trust me!!! I remember going to see my PS at two weeks and actually said to him "What was I thinking doing this". The skin and fat were not going to go away without the surgery and he is correct. I am so glad I did this but it was hard. They just don't tell you everything prior to the surgery. Then again you are talking to people in the doctors office who have not actually ever had the procedure done so don't really know aboout the pain. Hang in there and keep us up to date?
