“Teeth were dark and dingy from tea and getting older”
Zoom whitening: Worth it
Pain: Mild
I am in the process of changing my smile. My dentist recommended Zoom. After years of drinking tea and getting older, my teeth were UGLY. Very dark and dingy. After reading many of these posts and others like them I was very nervous about doing it. I went to my dentist and talked with the dental assistant that would be preforming the procedure. She told me of their policy of "no pink showing". She did talk to me about potential sensitivity. I decided to go ahead with it. My dentist had done it herself (with this assistant doing the procedure). I felt that they were competent to do the job.
I had Zoom done this morning. I must say, the dental assistant was very detail oriented. The prep time took about 45 minutes. I had lots of protection on my lips. Lots of gauze over my lips and in my mouth. Then she proceeded with the white substance that covered all of my exposed gums. She even allowed me to check her work with a mirror.
I had 4 fifteen minute sessions. She never left the room and was constantly asking if I was ok or had any pain. It wasn't until the 4th session with about 10 minutes left that I had my first zinger. I was almost asleep when it jolted me out of my semi-sleep state. I continued on with the rest of the session. I had 3 more zingers within an hour of the procedure. Nothing major. It is now 11pm, 13 hours after the procedure and I feel great. No problem brushing my teeth and no pain or sensitivity.
I ABSOLUTELY love the results! To even top of the fabulous results I found out that I was only charged $250.00 rather than $500.00. They were doing a special! I love my dentist and her staff!
I think that most people that are having issues with this are choosing dental practices who are less than qualified. Or rather, not very detail oriented. I would suggest you do your research before choosing where you wish to have Zoom done. Make sure they have the "no pink showing" policy. Check their work. Tell them you do not want them to leave the room. Be assertive!
