“Make Sure You Get Floride Treatments Prior to Zoom”
I have always wanted to try Zoom Whitening even though my teeth were not all that yellow. I visited my dentist and went through a series of dental procedures and the last step was zoom whitening. I was very satisfied with all the other work performed so I agreed to it. My whitening sessions started around 11:30am and prior to starting I was asked how my Floride treatments went, only to explain to the dental tech that I had not been given any Floride treatments to take prior and she said that we would proceed anyways. I have now learned that was my big mistake number 2. I have since been told that the floride treatments are supposed to help prevent some of the sensitivity. Number 1 was wanting my not-so-yellow teeth whitened.
During the second session I experience intense pain in one of my bottom teeth. The whitening gel was removed from that area and we proceeded with the third session. Which I consider my mistake number 3. I should have stopped then, but I allowed her to continue. The third session finished fine and I left.
By 2:30pm I started having "zingers" as everyone else on this forum has called them. By 3:00pm I was in excruiating pain. I was told by my dentist office to take motrin for the pain. By 6:30pm I had consumed 6 motrin and 3 teaspoons of "sensitive teeth" mouthwash and the pain was so bad I was on the verge of vomiting. (Similiar to the pain experienced with Migraines.)
I love my dentist office and I will continue to utilize them for further dental needs. I will not however, allow my vanity to determine the amount of pain I will be in again. I only achieved 2 shades whiter than what my teeth were, so to me the pain was not worth it and my lesson has been learned.
