“Vaserlipo procedure on upper/lower abs more painful than expected”

Vaser Liposuction: Worth it

Cost: $4,500
Pain: Uncomfortable
Vaser Liposuction satisfaction: Very good4 Star Rating: Very good

Why: Seems to know their stuff and carry out this particular procedure regularly . Also explained everything very clearly.

Three days after Vaserlipo on two abdominal areas - one below navel, one above. Very difficult to see any results yet (which is fine) as there is a lot of swelling. Procedure overall not too painful except for initial local anaesthetic part - ouch! No bruising but a lot of what looks like internal bleeding around crotch area (what was white from a bikini is now purple and red - looks like internal bleeding in that area).

Very difficult to bend down but worked the next day after procedure (not very wise, I would suggest). Slept for about 4 hours when I got home - the 'calming' pills really knocked me out!

Will post photos in a couple of weeks - the compression garment is a bit cumbersome and difficult to hide under certain clothes. But so far, think this will have been a good choice for me who could never shift the fat deposits on my tummy!

Hi Ashling, I got the vaser lipo done in the same clinic about a week or so after you. How is you stomach now? have you seen much of a change? Mine doesnt seem to be changing at all yet but im hoping this is due to the swelling.

Hey Ashling. Ya I would call the nurse in the clinic to be on the safe side. Although, I do remember the doctor saying that this (and many other things) can happen but will completely disappear after the 16 weeks. However, If it was me I would call to be sure. They seemed really nice so I dont think they would mind (and we paid enough!!) I am officially 9 days now and I am still seeing little difference and i am getting really annoyed but my boyfriend thinks i am being impatient so maybe i should wait a bit. The corset is so annoying!!! Let me know if you call the clinic.

The stitches must have been dissolving ones as they are gone - that is one thing I am very pleased about - hardly any mark or scar from the incisions!

one week after vaser am very badly bruised, in agony and bigger in tummy than ever. Am instructed to wear spanx at all times. Feel very panicked as nothing is going down. Had a rapid weight gain - went from size 0 to 8 in 6 months. Cannot exercise as can hardly move. I am told to be patient. Any other similar experiences? Thanks

I don't think you can exercise for at least 3 weeks. After about 10 days I noticed some difference, but I am 4.5 weeks post -op and don't see a huge change at all. It is definitely better but not a huge difference. Try and be patient and good luck!

I am considering having the procedure but am not sure if it is worth it. What do you recommend?

Hi Ashling Sounds like yours went very similar to mine. More painful than expected mostly the local anestic part. Today is day after surgery and really really sore when I move. A little swollen especially above the pubic line where I also have a bruise like your good self. Am interested to know how you are getting on now???

HI there Hate to tell you but I have developed a complication. Went back last week to the clinic - 6 weeks after procedure - and apparently I have developed (can't remember exact terminology) but where the fat was taken, the compression garment caused fibroid tissue to grow in the space. If you look at my tummy area, to the right of my navel is a large raised swollen area (around the size of a man's hand) - a solid mass that can be seen through clothes. The doctor says it is very rare (less than 3%) - but as a result I look far worse now than before. The doctor injected some fat dissolving liquid and told me to wait 3 weeks and gave me a diuretic tablet to take for 3 days. It's a mess and I am really fed up. The next step is for the surgeon to go back in and try and remove this very large mass - incredibly unsightly -looks like an alien trying to escape from my tummy! Very un-funny for me I can tell you.
