“Septorhinoplasty - valve collapse and spreader grafts inserted”
Rhinoplasty: Undecided
Pain: Mild
I underwent a septo rhinoplasty to correct breathing difficulties (in particular valve collapse caused by a previous septoplasty and straightening of the anterior part of my septum which was not corrected at the time of the first septoplasty). However, in spite of this I am still continuing to experience breathing difficultes in one nostril and my nose still "sucks inward" on both sides when I breathe in.
I chose to have a rhinoplasty performed at the same time to enhance the cosmetic appearance of my nose.

Rhinoplasty did improve the cosmetic appearance of my nose. However despite the insertion of spreader grafts at the time I have continued to experience breathing difficulties and my nostrils still move inward when I breathe in.

Alar collapse can be due to several factors, but batten grafts can sometimes be used to stiffen this lateral segment of the nose (quite different than spreaders, btw). --DCP
