“Alar Retraction”

My nostrils were very open 8mm each side and I wanted to have this procedure for some time. My doctor recommended alar retraction surgery to lower the nostrils on each side harvesting cartilage from my ear.

I had alar retraction surgery on my nose 2 days ago. This is my first surgery on my nose and not a reconstruction from a previous rhinoplasty. I noticed on my left nostril a small section on the rim that is white in color. I'm assuming this is the cartilage that was harvested from my ear. Is this normal? I'm nervous that it will not turn back to the color of my skin and always stay white.
