Worth It
Spent: $150 in Cleveland, OH

Why I did it: mole was tingling and recently got bigger

Pros: possible cancer risk reduced

Cons: I don't know whether the scar is going to be normal

Updated on Aug 23, 2009:

I had a mole removed beneath my eyebrow but above my eyelid 10 days ago due to a tingling and slight size increase.

My doctor used dissolvable stitches, and all of them have dissolved except for the knot, which he plans to remove tomorrow. It seems like the scar will be flat. But, on each end of the scar, there's a red bump.Is this part of the scarring? Is it irritation from the knot that hasn't been removed? Is it permanent? Will it flatten out?

Should I be concerned about this scar? Will it flatten out once stitches are completely gone?

Hi OceanLynnn,

Congratulations on taking a proactive step to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer! I hope the scar heals up to your satisfaction.

If you are not pleased with your scar after it is fully healed, you do have the option of seeing a surgeon for scar revision.

Also, some people use products like Mederma or Kelocote to improve the appearance of raised, uneven scars that don't fade.
