I had localised areas of fat that were resistance to diet and exercise, having spent the last 10 years exercising like a mad woman and having a good diet I decided to take the plunge and go for liposuction on my inner and outer thighs, lower abdomen and flanks.

6 days in and I am very swollen and very bruised and look hideous! I am huge.

[Responses below for results and whether it was worth really cannot be accurate at this stage as it is very early days! The reason why I have selected not worth it is because at present I really feel like it isn't!]

I had liposuction 6 days ago on my inner thighs, outer thighs, lower abdomen and flanks. I was advised during my consultation not to sleep on my side however what I failed to ask was for how long and why! Why do I need to avoid sleeping on my side at present? What will happen if I do? And, how long will I need to refrain from doing so?

Can somebody help with this question with regards to sleeping position post-liposuction?

It sounds like the doctor is trying to prevent uneven swelling. If you were, say, a left-side sleeper, I'd imagine your left side would have increased blood flow and could possibly swell up more than the right side.

Just a thought.

I had exactly the same places done. When you sleep on one side or the other, you run the risk of having uneven outer thighs. Did you have Tumescent lipo done in a hospital? I did, and they injected tons of fluid to remove 9 pounds of fat. In fact, I was 11 pounds heavier on the afternoon I came home than when I left early that morning. After 3 weeks of lipo and still wearing the compression garment, I still have only lost 6 pounds and my ankles and feet are swollen twice their size. I wonder why my Plastic Surgeon NEVER mentioned that this would happen? Guess they all do!
