“Failed lipo suctioning”

Liposuction: NOT worth it

Cost: $6,000
Pain: Worst possible
Liposuction satisfaction: Poor1 Star Rating: Poor
I do not recommend my Liposuction provider: Name not provided
Why: I lost faith in him

Had lipo suctioning of the upper and lower abs plus love handles. I was at the correct wgt for my hgt but had the appearance of a beer gut that I got tired of camoflodging... the treatment failed as the dr put a hole in my bowel by accident and within 24hrs I had to 911 myself to the hospital the bowel was corrcted but to get to the bowel the er surgeon had to open the abdomen area where the lipo was just done...and that caused havoc in that area...that was in november of 2008 in february I noticed bumps and found out my intestines were protruding..resulting in two potential hernias surfacing...

I have been told that the hernia's are correctable through surgery but this has to wait until the legal battles settle but My question is..can anything be done to correct the original lipo suction? can the hernia's be corrected by a plastic surgeon or do I have to have two separate surgeons? Im a bit ticked off to say the least as what should have been a simple lipo suction has turned out to be a nightmare and now I am a proud owner of a "C" section scar ontop of a failed lipo.

You had the worst possible lipo experience & outcome. I am so sorry to hear that you went through that. I hate to even think about anything accidentally puncturing intestines. I'm glad you survived.

thanks for your support/concern..I'm really hoping that working out will help and not hinder the outcome.

Yikes! What a terrible thing to happen to you. I had 2 procedures done a few years ago - 1 needing a plastic surgeon and the other a gyne surgeon. The 2 surgeons had operating room priviledges at the same hospital and cooperated so I was able to arrange it so that only had to be operated on 1 time. It also saved on costs because my insurance paid for all the operating room costs. I would try to find good surgeons who understand what you want to do. A good doctor wants to avoid having their patient operated on multiple times because there is always a risk. No matter what though, get recommendations from friends, co-workers, nurses. I wouldn't even consider being operated on without those recommendations. Good luck!

While my lawsuit was going on, I found a new PS who has been WONDERFUL. She has performed three surgeries. The first one included a hernia repair along with scar revisions. The second(7 months ago) and third which was done June 2 were also scar revisions. My insurance covered my surgeries. I hope you find a great Doctor. My PS is Karen Horton. She does answer questions on this site. She is located in SF CA Take care
