I'm 52 and I had a lifestyle lift along with face and neck lyposculpture 18 days ago. I had a very heavy neck and jowls.

I'm very happy with the results. I was back to work on the 4th day after surgery, although I still had to wear a bandage. The procedure itself was not painfull and not uncomfortable for me. I needed pain meds the first day and then just at night for the next four days. One week after surgery I went out and about. Still some bruising but was able to cover it with makeup.

After reading the reviews on this site I was concerned and almost cancelled. I'm very glad I didn't. I look years younger.

This review is the subjective opinion of a RealSelf member and not of RealSelf, Inc.

Helpful review?

My Doctor:

My doctor had a great manner, made me feel very comfortable and confident in him.

That’s daring of you to have read all the negative results on this site and still go through with it. You should consider yourself a very lucky person - your experience in not the norm.
Ada 30 Jul 2009
It's still early, let us hear back from you in 2-3 months.

Yes, 18 days is nothing. Wait a few months and then let us know. Will be anxious to hear from you when jowls start sagging, etc. etc.

Any pictures to share???
Morgon 20 Aug 2009
You had this 18 days ago. Interesting. Would you mind sharing with us your before and after pictures? Thanks.
Morgon 20 Aug 2009
Just one more thing. Heck the pictures you see of me are 4.5 months post operative. What is 18 days lol. Are you from LSl? Just curious. 18 days is nothing! Oh and you say no pain. Hm were you put to sleep or something? Fishy story.

I just wonder if people are drinking alcohol or indulging in other harmful behavior that goes against the healing process. Or, I wonder if all these doctors are good ones.
Gail T 9 Sep 2009
I doubt anyone would be indulging in harmful behaviors during the recovery process when they are trying to better themselves.

I decided to look up ifo on lsl- and interestingly enough all the people who "love" their LSL--DO NOT HAVE BEFORE/AFTER PHOTOS. Hummmm... If these people love it and it did such an awesome job, not to mention these people paid a lower "average" for the prceedure? VERY INTERESTING! It is obvious that those who are linked somehow to LSL are the ONLY ones leaving positive feedback...Is it to help off set the REAL people/proceedures that went horrificaly wrong? If you truly believe those that are 100% happy who have no pictures and who seemed to have paid less (as well as their comments sound like it was written by the writters of the infomercial) IF YOU REALLY THINK THAT IS TRUE...then I have awesome clear, blue, pollution free- ocean front property to sell in Arizona! Thank goodness for all the REAL people on here telling the truth and pictures to back it up. I am truly sorry that you all had to go through such horror- and thank you so much for sharring the truth in hopes of stopping the madness and the butchering "Dr.'s" at LSL. -p.s.- also those comments made by "unregistered guest users" that try and point a finger at the person who had the proceedure stating that they "wonder if people are indulging in harmful behavior that goes against the healing process. Or, I wonder if all these doctors are good ones" LOL- OH PLEASE - You people from LSL, seriously need to stop trying to act as if people can't tell that You guys are these "unregistered quest users". (example: momono3) Give it up LSL employee's! The truth ALWAYS comes through and remember: ON AVERAGE PEOPLE TELL 8 OUT OF 10 FRIENDS WHEN THEY HAVE A BAD EXPIERENCE SOMEPLACE--VS--1 OUT OF 10 WHEN EXPIERENCE IS GOOD. LETS FACE IT (no pun intended) LSL I am sure will be the next to have a class action law suit against them along with all Dr.'s etc who have a connected with LSL. Justice WILL prevail in the end. All employees associated with LSL should be ASHAMED of themselves for whatthey have done to these poor people. Question to them: How do you sleep at night and look yourself in the mirror knowing the bodily and emotional harm you cause to people on a daily basis? just curious.

I had the lifestyle lift in September 2009 at the Maitland Center. I had scheduled a 2 week vacation from work to do this. I did not realize that there was going to be so much bruising and swelling especially around my eyes as I did not have any eye procedure done. I was very apprehensive when I read through several pages of release forms before the lsl. I almost walked out. I had my husband come back into the room while I asked to see the doctor again before I signed the release. Part of the form states that there may not be any change in your appearance after the surgery. I asked the doctor then what am I here for? He stated that because lsl is a corporation that they have to state that in their forms but he assured me that he does a similar procedure at his practice and his release form is only one page. He said that some people no matter what you do are never satisfied. He told me that my results would not be worthy of a tv commercial because I did not look that bad to begin with. He told me he could lift my jowl and tighten my neck. I signed the release. I was asked to take the other 2 sedatives and relax in a what seemed to be a dental chair. After several minutes the lsl began. I felt what seemed to be a claw like apparatus around my ears which I guess was how the local anesthesia was administered. I could feel the pulling and commented that it hurt. When it was over I was wrapped in a compression bandage that was very very tight. That night was a difficult one. The pain started as soon as I got home and the pills prescribed were not working. I had my husband call lsl and he was told to give me 2 pills at a time. I was up all night because I couldn't get the pain under control. Then it was back to lsl the next morning for a quick look and rewrap. My doctor came in to check and told me I would feel like a new woman by the evening. Wrong!!! The swelling got worse for the next 2 days. My eyes were like slits and I was vomiting from the pain medication. I was afraid I was going to open the stitches from the force of the vomiting. I looked like an alien. I could not eat and have lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks after the surgery. You can't open your jaw too wide. I did the ice thing all day long and the swelling started to go down after the 5th day. First set of stitches came out one week after. I was greeted by a surgical tech who had a matter of fact attitude and he told me to discontinue using the peroxide to clean my incisions. He said to use water and keep the area the moist which was contrary to what I was told by the surgical tech who was with me during the procedure. So I listened to him and when I went back 3 days later for the 2nd set of stitches to be removed I asked for the tech who was with me the first time. She was upset that the areas aroung my ears were not drying up like they should and I told her they I was told on Monday to stop using the peroxide wash. She had me discuss this with the office manager and they had the surgeon on call that day look at my incisions. I was assured that everything would be alright. Well at the end of 2 weeks, I was not fit to go back to the office. The incisions on the left side of my face were not totally closed and the bruising and residual swelling was still too great. I took another week off. I am happy to say that after 3 weeks, I look normal enough to be seen without too many questions. If I would have known what to expect I would probably not have gone through this agony for minimal results. I will wait until my 8 week visit to make my final decision. I must say my doctor was very good and the staff are very nice. I especially liked the surgical tech who was with me through the surgery. I think lsl should be more explicit as to what a person will experience each day after the procedure. This is not for the faint of heart.

WOW, you were allowed follow-ups? My one & only follow up was to take the stitches out at 10 days. I went back because I ear was pulled down& sewn to my face& I felt an oozing& was concerned. I never was offered a pressure bandage, only had sterile strips& gauze. Even calling them, not once did my Dr call me back. They didn't even have a surgical report on me or all the times I called them& corporate & their WEcare@lifestylelift emails. My folder was essentilally 4 pages. Even the consent I signed had to be read to me because I wasn't allowed to get my glasses , which were in my purse w/ my son.At one point I almost freaked cause my eye closed & I belive if I hadn't yelled, maybe my eye would have never opened again& I didn't have an eye procedure. The pain during that was terrible& we as patients, should've been warned. Heck in 06 I was told it would be 2 tiny incisions in the fold of my crease in the ear, never to be seen again. What a joke!

I've avoided responding to your derogatory e-mails. First of all, I do not work for LSL. I am self-employed, I own a CPA firm. I haven't posted my pics because I don't have them in jpeg format. I have showed them to numerous friends etc. I'm also not sure I want everyone viewing them. I know of several others who have had successful procedures done at LSL. The location where my surgery was done has two doctors who perform two surgeries each day. Before having my surgery, I checked out my doctor's background with the Board's that he is affiliated with. I also checked with the better business bureau and found no reports about LSL. The ONLY reason I posted on this site is because I felt it unfair that they were getting so much bad press. So, to answer your questions, I sleep very well at night. As for a class action lawsuit, I haven't seen anything in the mail yet. If this was truly such a horrendous procedure, I think we would know by now.
Bits 28 Dec 2009
If you had good results, why would you see any litigation? Those of us that did have it done, with bad results are happy& RELIEVED you didn't have problems. We found this site, saw basically the same stories we had endured & posted. We are real people w/ real problems caused by that procedure.Whethere it was by a hurried dr or the procedure itself, I don't know. There were no surgical reports to say what they were doing& no DR aftercare AT ALL. Not once did he call me back. There is a suit against them& eventually you will hear about it. If you google Lifestylelift, you will also see a fine imposed because they urged their employees to come on this site& maybe others to tell bogus' great results', to "UP" the ratings here for them. The NYC Atty. Gen. investigated that& fined them.SO, as we are happy for you, please show compassion for those of us that hurt every single day since the procedure & don't know how to fix it, as some PS's won't touch us w/o a surgical report saying what was done to us. ANd LSL won't answer our questions or call us back anymore. Continued healing& God Bless!!

For all of you with bad experiences, that is not necessary due to the Lifestyle Lift procedure--it has to do with your SURGEONS. I will be getting it done in Albuquerque next year and they have been named the best LSL clinic in the nation--best doctors, procedures, etc.--and I have been offered phone numbers of all the patients who have had the procedure done and are thrilled with it. The woman who gave me the free consultation had the procedure herself and looks fabulous. I think the ones who enjoy telling others who had good results that they are not 'the norm' should be happy for them, instead of negative. But then again, I guess misery loves company.
Bits 28 Dec 2009
But then again, I guess misery loves company. This was quoted by a happy LSL patient. We are happy you got good results, honest. We don't create misery as you state. We share our stories, which all sound alike & try to absorb how a doctor takes an oath to do no harm & then blames us for their inadequacies, never calls us back, no resolutions, no 'I am sorry', nothing, except to blame us. Terrible!

Lifestyle Lift and chin lipo. Surgery 11/09 pain:none during surgery, however did smell the cautery kinda weird not bad. I am very pleased with my results. My procedure was done with much care, the staff was wonderful. The medical assistant stayed with me the whole time, (even when I was nervous and had to get up to use the bathroom about 6 times), they supported me the whole way. I was awake for my whole procedure and heard the cutting noises and cautery and felt the pressure never felt any pain at all, as for a matter of fact my surgeon and I had this whole conversation going along with the ma and it was quite good! I also asked my surgeon, if he ever was to have this surgery would he do it? He replied "only if I could find someone as good as me". I also asked him if he would ever do it and he said "yes". I had the pressure bandage for 2 days due to a holiday. I did have the pain the first night and the only reason I was nauseated and vomited was because I was stupid and forgot to eat before taking my pain med and my surgeon immediately called in something for me at the pharmacy for my nausea on a holiday none the less. I only required my pain med for one night anyway, and Tylenol worked for the next and I was done. I did have swelling and bruising which is natural after any surgery, and as I look at any surgery as non-routine these were my expectations. When I went for my first post op visit, the Tech was impressed at my incisions as they were so clean. Everyday there was a mild improvement. My first day back to work all my bruising was almost gone except one little yellow spot on my lower neckline. The very first comment made to me was "how well rested I looked", I was so excited! The other girls are like wow you look great, there is something different about you but they never figured it out and I never told. 33 days later went for my post op visit my physician was so pleased at my outcome and so was my daughter and sister. I even shared my pre/post op pics with some of the people who were in the post op waiting room with me because they could not believe I had the LSL done until they saw my before pictures and my turkey neck and jaw line. I personaly showed them my face as well. It is now nearly 3 months and I am still very pleased with my outcome, and people have told me I look 20 years younger! I have only alittle mild numbness on the right side above my ear and in front of my ear but it is getting better. I continue to use my scaring oil and cream twice a day everyday and with alittle concealer can't be seen at all. W/O concelearer barely noticeable. I would recommend my surgeon. My sister is going to have her surgery in a week. My sister had me look up this blog as she was suprised to see all of these comments after my outcome. I had to write something good about my experience. I am not an employee of LSL. I did my research prior to having my surgery. I was pleased to read that my surgeon was still active in emergency room care at a local hospital. I am a real person and have had a real surgery and now like looking in the mirror as it has changed my life for the better. My family is very happy for me. So now my face matches how I feel. I have been divorced for 10yrs and hope maybe I just might get a date as I don't look old and worn out anymore. I feel good about myself in years. I did something for me and not for someone else. cost 4,000.

OMG!!! I don't know who to believe. I set up an appointment this afternoon but for me to spend the thousands of dollars everyone is saying this cost, I would be sick to pay that kind of money and to have those god aweful scares on my face and be left with a mess. Just the thought of someone telling me everything I want to hear, seeing infomercials and believing this is good as gold. This is so scary. I can honestly tell you there is no way I'm going for a FREE consult in two weeks, I will definitely be cancelling it. For anyone to shell out that kind of money and I'm sure its not just sitting in there back pocket, and then to get such a god aweful end result. That's sickening....I am so glad I looked up all these reviews. If i have this feeling in my gut you can certainly forget it

I had the Lifestyle lift done on Feb 22,2011. The surgery was fine. I like the results. I also had laser on the full face and that is taking some extra time to heal. It is 12 weeks and my face is still a little red and blotchy but they say everyone heals different, I am hoping the redness and blotchyness disapear soon, I have no compaints about the surgery only the laser

After such negative imput, I am no longer interested. I will use my $20.00 chin excersiser instead.

What I don't understand is why aren't people listing the EXACT place they had their surgery. What city, state and what was the doctor's name? That way no one will want to go there and the place will suffer for lack of business.
RoseMaybud 11 Feb 2012
I would highly recommend the Lifestyle Lift, but make sure you do your research and ask your doctor for photos of his work. Those of you who had a bad experience--I once again reiterate, it is not the fault of the Lifestyle Lift but of your surgeon. I am thrilled with my results, as my surgeon is excellent. I got it done in Albuquerque, but they don't allow the name of the surgeon here on the board unless you are a member and log in. His name is Richard Davies in case they don't remove this. I am 57 and will be 58 next month, and I look 40.

Also, why are people so surprised there is alot of bruising?? You are having MAJOR SURGERY on your face. So even though I did not have my eyes done, or my forehead, my eyes were bruised and I looked like a gorilla about 5 days post op--only because I happen to bruise easily! I posted my photos here, but being it was the internet, I eventually deleted them. But if anyone would like to see my photos, email me at my name here on americaonline.

Keep in mind ALL Lifestyle Lift surgeons are board certified plastic surgeons. The reason you are not paying an arm and a leg is because they do not use anesthesia, so you are saving about $2500 or more right off the bat. I was in no pain when he was doing my face, because they numb you and you can't feel anything. I am so glad I got it done 1-1/2 yrs ago, as the price was $2000 less than it is now. But I am so happy I got it done.
RoseMaybud 11 Feb 2012
One more thing: the lady who was back to work in 4 days--well, that is highly unusual. I am happy for her, but she must not be one of those who bruises easily. I bruise very easily, and I couldn't go back to work for 2 weeks. Even at that, I had to wear a wig to hide my scars around my ears. And I was a bit weak from the surgery itself. But everyone is different. It all depends on what you have done. The more you have done, the more trauma it is to your body. I only had the Lifestyle Lift (bottom portion of the face), the neck, and laser around my jowels. Again, it was totally worth it. So do NOT let the negative experiences scare you!
RoseMaybud 11 Feb 2012
I have been reading some of the doctors' comments on these pages, and shame on them. They are giving false information, because they realize that the LS Lift has been taking the country by storm, and they are losing business. So they have sour grapes. Some of the misinformation they are giving, is that the LS Lift is not performed by 'real' plastic surgeons. That is a lie. All LS Lift doctors are board-certified plastic surgeons, and many had their own practices before joing the LS Lift team. Also, they said it only last 2 yrs or so, and that is another lie. The LS Lift, depending on genetics and other factors in a person's lifestyle, lasts fron 8 to ten years.

Again, shame on all these plastic surgeons, who are posting misinformation to scare people. I would do it again, and I would not give my money to these expensive plastic surgeons who would post such misleading comments on this site.

P.S. I do NOT work for the Lifestyle Lift.
Chrystal Eckes (RealFriend) 20 Feb 2012

RoseMarybud, shame on the doctors for telling the the truth, are you a doctor? Have you ever performed a facial procedure or aka facelift? If not, how could you possible know that comments made by some doctors are not the absolute truth. Why would a doctor take a chance in posting something that is not the truth?  And your comment in your first post that "I once again reiterate, it is not the fault of the Lifestyle Lift but of your surgeon". You do realize that LSL trains the doctors, right. That they work in the LSL facilities. One hand washes the other. If there are repeated bad surgeries by the same Doctor, I would think that LSL would terminate that Doctor and fix the problem, but complaints seem to be from all areas, different doctors. If it was just one doctor LSL could fix that easily. I am no doctor, but I think that the combination of an outdated procedure combined with a cattle mill mentality of scheduling works in combination for production of poor results, sometimes death. Another thing that you mention, being put to sleep at the tune of $2500. I had a redo of my LSL nightmare and it cost me $1200 additional. I wanted to be put to sleep. I did not want to suffer through the redo awake. Other surgeons can & do offer procedures like LSL under general or local anesthesia. And the shock of the bruising -- well, maybe it is in the presentation or the infomercials that are misleading. When you went in for your consult, did they warn you that your head would swell up like a basketball and turn black and blue for quite a few days? Honestly? If a person is determined to have a LSL (lower facelift), they should be smart, do their homework & Get a 2nd opinion. I honestly believe if comparing apples to apples with a LSL vs a board certified facial plastic surgeon doing the same sort of surgery, they can be competitive.  A LSL doctor recently posted "BUYER BEWARE", the smartest thing that I have ever seen a LSL doctor post and I thank him for doing so. I am happy that you have had good results, I would not wish what I went through on my worst enemy.  Best, Chrystal Eckes
RoseMaybud 21 Feb 2012
Chrystal, why would you be lurking on this forum with your nauseating photo? Don't you realize all of us looked bad after the surgery? Most human beings will look beat up after any type of facelift, even those who do not have the Lifestyle Lift. I happen to bruise very easily, and I looked horrid at about 4 days post op. But I improved after then, little by little.

All you do is scare people when those of us who are happy with our outcome want to encourage individuals to get this done.

Shame on YOU for defending doctors who charge an arm and a leg and have the nerve to say Lifestyle Lift surgeons are not "real" plastic surgeons when I know for a fact most of them had their own practices before joining the Lifestyle Lift team.

So take that nauseating photo off of this site and please stop scaring people. Not to mention people are EATING and don't want to lose their food.

And no, I am not a doctor, and I do not work for the Lifestyle Lift.
