“I Love It! Also Had Upper Eyelids Done”
I had my procedure done on Wed. 7/1/09. I chose to also have my upper eye lids done ($1,900). I did everything the staff told me to do (from the consultation)from taking Arnica (to keep from bruising) to ice packs.
My procedure started at 8am. I was out of there at 10:30am. I have never had any type of surgery and didn't know what to expect. I left there all wrapped up with a little tape on my eyes so I really couldn't see too much.
I returned the next day when they changed my bandages and to check on my progress. Everyone was just as pleasant as they were on the first day when I signed up. I didn't have one bruise! (thanks to the Arnica and good genes, I guess)and keeping an ice pack nearby. I did have a little puffiness but that is expected.
The first two days (wed/thurs) I slept on and off and I believe that was due to the pain medication. I removed the head wrap on Friday and was very pleased with the outcome! I continued on with the instructions taking care of the areas and everything healed nicely. I had the stitches removed on the 10th day (Saturday) and couldn't have been happier.
I am a side sleeper so sleeping on my back was the part that was the hardest to deal with! Overall it is surgery. But the pain was more of uncomfort than "pain".
I have since recommended my sister who had her procedure done in CA on 7/14 and another person that is scheduling hers for Sept. in NY! (all without any referral fees!! darn!)

HowEVER........
MY concern is the numbness and tightness from the facelift and the fact I must sleep fairly upright. When, oh WHEN will the numbness go away and I can return to sleeping any way I choose?
At 4 weeks there is a light pinkness, if that. I was told by the tech a while back that the pink is new skin and that that is a good thing.
EVERYONE, even strangers, have commented on the tone and texture of my face, comparing it to a baby's bottom!! (I think I looked very, very old before this surgery.)
The needles of lidocaine injected by my mouth to prepare for the laser made the other 25 needles that were used in my face seem like nothing!! They were horrible!!!! Not so nice words came tumbling out as he injected me. There was a person sitting by me that held my hands which helped.
The laser burned like crazy so I can only imagine how much it would have hurt without the lidocaine.
I have had many people guess my age from later 30's to early 40's....I am 62, so you can imagine how gratifying THAT is.
My only big complaint is the numbness and tightness.
Today I finally realized that all this worry that has weighed me down is being magnified by all the negative comments I have read. I have great compassion for these people but none of them ,as far as I can tell, had their surgery with the dr. I had.
Today I chose to relax, to be patient and to be a good sport.
Then I received an email from a person who recently had a facelift. She,too, had numbness and tightness....she told me that it doesn't go away fast but that oddly enough, one tends to get accustomed to it......eventually it DOES go away but could take up to a year, especially if you had your neck done....which I did. My neck looks like a woman in her 20's, I swear.
I wish you and everyone on this site only goodness. I am not Pollyanna. Maybe goodness will come from taking legal action, as some suggest. I choose to calm myself down, STOP reading horror stories and start concentrating on letting my body heal.
God bless us all.......WE know it wasn't a cake-walk but rather a trip to hell.
You say that the laser will work up to 7 months. What happens after that? I just LOVE the texture of my skin, now. I want to keep it as long as possible. I follow their directions......Vaseline on my face at night.
Daytime........I still clean with Cetaphil, as I did earlier. Then I use a moisturizer and spy of no less than 30. I will do this the rest of my life and NEVER,EVER abuse myself in the sun, again.
