Not Worth It
Spent: $150 in New York City, NY

I had my brown age spots zapped with a laser. I hated the way they picked up the self tanner when I used it. But it made it worse.

I had brown age spots zapped with laser because I hated the way they darkened when I used self tanner. Now when I use the tanner, they look worse. Is it possible that the laser removed the pigment, but left behind a subtle scar that picks up the self tanner and looks even darker than the original age spot did??!!

Self tanners have greater absorption in areas of thicker skin such as knees, elbows, callous etc. The reason that your sundamaged areas are appearing darker after self tanner is that they also have a component of dry, flakey skin. Laser/IPL treatments will decrease the color but won't always treat the flakey epidermis. Microdermabrasion, chemical peels and liquid nitrogen are just some options that doctors use to treat this skin issue.
