I got burned on my first brazilian laser hair removal. I hated shaving so I thought it may be a great idea to have this done. I did my underarms and it was great so I decided to to my brazilian.

After a few hours of my brazilian laser hair removal, I had developed dark reddish patches like burn marks at different areas. Mostly below where it is most sensitive. I went back and ask the technician that did it for me and she said that it could just have been bruising. Now its like crusting and looks like its peeling off but it hurts really bad.

Did I get burned and is it gonna leave a scarr and what can I do to treat this problem? It hurts and itches bad. Please help me. I am an asian descent so I am not sure if I was a good candidate for this.

certain lasers are not good for any skin type. ND-Yag lasers are good for any skin type but the right settings must be used. cooling gel and cool air are supposed to be used to keep the skin cool. the energy going into your tissue may have been too much and too fast. this will cause burns!

Your problem probably stems from being treated with IPL which is sold as laser hair removal but is not true laser. Most FDA approved cosmetic lasers are very safe, more effective, and very rarely cause burns when used with proper cooling by trained technicians. IPLs are far less precise and heat a much larger area to accomplish moderate hair clearing. Thus, there is a greater chance for burns. IPL is excellent for epidermal pigment removal. There are 2 laser light wavelengths that will accomplish excellent results on all skin types. Make sure your technician is qualified and can produce some type of certification. Otherwise look elseware.

I had the same thing happen when I went for Brazilian laser hair removal, the only difference is the the technician asked me if I wanted to laser intensity set higher and warned me of what might happen and she was right. I experienced the same burning/scabbing/crusting along my bikini line and after it healed, it left minor hypopigmentation that went away completely after a few months.
