“Button placement?”
Invisalign: Worth it
Pain: Painfree
I have had a crowded lower teeth my entire life however it was never bad enough for me to consider treatment until recently when both my dentist and myself noticed it was getting worse. I decided on invisalign due to the horror stories I've herd about traditional braces and of course for the fact most people wouldn't even notice I was undergoing treatment unless I told them.
I just had my "buttons" put on today. There are 14 of them in all (seven top, seven bottom) the top are what really bother me. There are button on all six of my front teeth (incisors and canines). The buttons on my incisors are towards the bottom of the tooth and therefore are very visible. Is there any chance of having these buttons moved or even removed?

Those buttons are there for a reason, to help move your teeth :)

The buttons are for rotation of the teeth - if they aren't there then you won't get such a great result. harden up lol.

I am aware the buttons are there for a reason however I feel that I was misguided about the procedure I was told I would have four in all and that they would not be noticeable. But oh well, five more months and this will (hopefully) be over.

I have learned that the placement of the attachments is dependent on the type of movement required for that particular tooth. I had Invisalign for 8 months last year with 8 attachments across the top teeth (treating an overjet). The attachments were extremely small and not noticeable which made me very happy. Problem is, they didn't move my teeth at all! I am now in my second treatment- switched to an Elite Provider orthodontist. I have 10 attachments across the front teeth- placed at the bottom of the tooth as you have described. I can tell with the first few trays that my teeth are actually moving the right way. Even though these are more noticeable, I have learned the hard way that it is more important to achieve the results you want (as you said, 5 months isn't really that long).
