Not Worth It
Spent: $2,400 in Phoenix, Arizona

I had a Pearl Fractional Laser treatment on my face over 3 weeks ago and my skin is very discolored and streeked, where the laser was used. I am having a hard time covering up these brown patches with mineral make up and am concerned about how long this will be the case. I had even been prescribed Hydrocortisone cream, but with little benefit (after 2 weeks). At this point, I would not have done it had I known this, but am still trying to be optimistic.

Could this be due to the physician having taken off the "guard" from the Pearl fractional laser machine during my proceedure, as it was making a noise that was eliminated when the guard was removed.

My Doctor: Name not provided

She was very kind and compassionate during all my contacts with her, and her staff are great. I only have concerns about my results thus far.

I don't know about Pearl Fractional but I am a practitioner that uses the regular Pearl laser and under no circumstances do we ever perform the treatment without the guard on. That is what keeps the laser at the appropriately safe distance from the person's skin. I wonder if "removing the guard" is a common practice done by other providers. There are so many unhappy patients on here with Pearl and I find that so surprising compared to the number of positive outcomes we see in our clinic. I think that any person who reads this and has an unfavorable outcome should notify Cutera so that these unsafe practices can be looked into. I'm sorry for your experience! If the laser was making a "funny noise" the person doing your laser should have been more concerned that maybe something was wrong with it all together and not just removed the safety device so they could continue on with the treatment.
