“Believe I'll Be Happy Once Healing is Complete”
I had a breast aug with lift back in 4/09. Implants were inserted through my armpits and the lift was performed by cutting around the areola.
The armpit incisions healed nicely. My nipples though have been giving me problems ever since. I get very painful abcesses that sometimes will break open. The smell is also an issue, although I have been assured that they aren't infected. I have been on keflex 2 times and have been using warm compresses which rarely helps.
I believe I will be very happy with my decision to go with the surgery once my incisions heal completely. At this point now though, I wish I hadn't had the procedure done.
How long after surgery and having a reaction to vicryl sutures, is it normal to have stitch abcesses? Is it possible to surgically go into the incision and remove the affected tissue and resuture with a different material? It has been pretty much determined to be a reaction/allergy to the vicryl sutures, so isn't 6 months a little long for there to still be suture material left to cause these abcesses? I am getting very frustrated with the whole process and would just like something done besides a sit and wait approach, as it doesn't seem to be getting any better. This review is the subjective opinion of a RealSelf member and not of RealSelf, Inc.
