It didn't hurt in the slightest. It's tender a week later, but I never used pain pills and had a ton of work done ... probably as much as you can have done. So, if you go to someone experienced, at least know that unless they totally screw up, it shouldn't hurt. Everyone was professional. The result, however -- disappointment is a massive understatement.

I'm VERY aware that one must wait for the swelling to go down before making any judgements on your outcome, and so I held my tongue after looking in the mirror when the splint came off but I just had a closed rhinoplasty/septoplasty to straighten my nose and it's still quite crooked and angles the same direction. In addition, the columella is significantly angled and the nostrils are extremely asymmetrical (far worse than before).

If the bones need to be moved further, is it best to do it within ten days of the rhinoplasty (as it is with a broken nose) or must I wait a year for a revision?

Though I may be swollen, the bones are easy to see and feel (as opposed to edema and tissue) and they're hardly improved. The columella -- if that doesn't rectify itself, dear god. Seriously, it's pointing at a 40 degree angle to the right, pulling the tip with it. The nose is "straighter" but in a line that is about 15 degrees diagonal and off center and noticeably crooked at the top where it meets the forehead.

This is stressing me out as I saw one of the world's best (trust me, rhinoplasty surgeons, you all know this doctor's name). And it cost a fortune. (Though I had almost no pain and minimal swelling).

I desperately want to believe this is just a swelling issue, but the bone-structure is almost EXACTLY as it was pre-surgery (and I know it intimately). I just don't want to miss a window to have this refined (if it needs to be, say, ten days later).

If after the swelling subsides (and I do not have much swelling, btw) it's still a disaster, wait another year for a revision?

My Doctor: name not provided

Because who else could you recommend if not this doctor, as just about any rhinoplasty specialist would recommend this individual -- a giant in the field. So, who am I to judge, other than one potentially unhappy patient?

thats too bad you didnt get the result you were expecting... I had to have a revision after my first rhino.. I really hope it's just swelling but you should be able to tell,at least a little bit, what your nose will look like. It's true that your nose will probably change but you shouod be able to see the basic shape right now.

I had rhinoplasty 12 years ago. While there was definitely swelling intially, as Ash said I could tell the basis shape almost straight away. The worst thing that happened to me from rhinoplasty was that the surgeon ripped out a bunch of hair when he took the sticky plaster off my forehead and it took forever to grow out. My nose is still a bit crooked and the nostrils and tip a bit asymmetrical, but let me assure you that despite the swelling this was obvious as soon as the plaster came off. Post some before and after shots. Wishing you the best of luck. Cheers

Photos would be very helpful here. Early results can sometimes be difficult to judge, but if it's still quite crooked, such asymmetry is rarely swelling alone. See if you can post some pictures, if you feel comfortable with that. --DCP

I just had rhinoplasty done about 9 days ago and I had the cast taken off yesterday. I could immediately see the change in the shape of my nose. I use to have a very crooked nose from a deviated septum and now my nose is very straight. My doctor did almost exactly what I had asked him. Not to put you down I hope it is just swelling I know how it feels when your hoping that when the cast comes off that your nose is perfect...I hope everything work out for you...

hello i have the same problem. crooked noses are the hardest problem to fix. i had a crooked nose. i wanted a symmetric one. now it's symmetric but off-center, wide, and not vertical but the top is more right as the bottom. i feel myself as a botched experiment. i wish i could have my old hated nose back.

I had a crooked nose, too, from falling when I was quite young. I very much miss my crooked old breathing enabler. I think that some docs need to take more (or better) notes if they are going to forget who said what to them. If I was not bothered that I did not have the "ideal" angle for a female, then that means I didn't expect or really want it to change. Afterall, I am the one that has to look at myself in the mirror every day.
