“Fat transfer gave me a young, natural look”

Fat transfer: Worth it

Cost: $1,400
Pain: Uncomfortable

I swear by fat grafting and nothing else. I have had it done three times and have also tried Juvederm and Restylane. The results just don’t compare!

I like that fat grafting is natural. This was my number one priority going into it.

But you want to know about the results. Fabulous! I’ve tried fat injections in my tear troughs, around my eyes and in my nasiolabial folds. This was two separate trips (once for eyes, later for nose). Each time I thought the fat did a good job of doing what it was supposed to do and looking natural. Well, it IS natural! I had gone for the more highly publicized fads like Juvederm and Restylane in the past and they disappointed me. I felt that they did what they were advertised to do, filling out your face, but I looked exactly like that – filled, like a water balloon. I don’t want to have fine lines but I also don’t want to look puffy. Someone might try to pop me!

I wondered a lot about where those fillers go when you’re metabolising and since I metabolise pretty quick it was a concern. No worries with fat though!

Am I stressing the “natural” bit too much? I don’t think so. Think of all those women who tried breast implants when they first came out, only to have them leak into their bodies and poison them. I’m staying away from that possibility here.

If you’re going to improve yourself, this is the way to go.

I had fat tranfer done twice in two consecutive years 2006. 2007 in my sunken cheeks, it looked good only for first 30-45 days after which it'll go back to where it got started. Looking for alternatives if someone can suggest any better procedure. Thanks,

i had fat transfer in my hands, twice,in Costa Rica, and it was completly gone within about 6 weeks. the pain was dreadful, and obviously was a complete and utter waste of money. i have since been in touch with a doctor in Dallas who claims his transfer lasts several years.?

I have heard from some doctors that they "overfill" an area with the fat injections as approx.40% of it is absorbed by the body quite quickly.

I have heard of doctors pretreating the area with Growth Factors,,and concentrating stem cells in the fat to be injected....This is a major benefit for skin and why I started researching it.... It makes sense pretreating with a vascular growth hormone would help the fat survive..I think it's called VEGF but I think they use several... You need blood supply for the fat to survive The technique and handeling of the fat are important If they suck it out and just inject it back in...It will be damaged and not survive... Ask the doctor how he harvests the fat and if he has a technique that encourages survival blood flow ect...
