Im African American with a darker skin tone and I was recently prescribed Retin-A gel 0.08% for acne. Ive read a lot about the side effects and Im a little concerned. Having a darker skin tone, is Retina-A good for me and am I prone to suffer from discoloration, hyperpigmentation, darkening etc.? Also, will my skin continue to be overly sensitive to sun exposure after I eventually discontinue the use of Retina-A, or does this sensitivity occur only during the use of Retina-A? Thanks!
I am African American. I have been using Retin A for 2 and a half months and my acne has gotten worse. I now have painful and hard spots and the hyperpigmentation seems to be worse. Would you recommend I stop using the product?

I am African with dark skin and Retin A is making me darker by the day-so much so that I'm beginning to not look like myself anymore. Since there's no escaping the sun and I'd really hate to stop using it given that my skin is softer and smoother, should I use a whitening agent? Please advise and what whitening agent is better suited for African skin. Thank you.
