Do you hate being told "you look tired"?

Lately I am getting told  “you look tired”. That’s even after a restful vacation and plenty of sleep! I’m on a pretty tight budget, but I would go for plastic surgery if that gave me a long-lasting result for eye bags, rejuvenating wrinkles, etc.

I prefer non-invasive means of looking better myself. After being told I looked tired all the time and trying a ton of different things (and wasting alot of money!) to look better I came across an oatmeal and clay facial mask on a website. Every time I use it my husband says I'm "glowing" and I see a difference immediately! I'm not sure this would work for everybody but it was affordable for me and I really like it :-)

I found emu oil to be effective. I use the airbrush from fad2envy and I love how it makes my eyes look.

I am an African-American female, age 48, looking like I could easily pass for 36 or 36. Blame in on the genes. However, I have a hollowiness under my left eye. I can't tell whether its bags or just hollow. I have bags under my right eye too, just not that bad. Is there a product I can use to put fullness there without having surgery performed or is surgery my only option? Lydia

Hi Lydia, I agree with the above comment by leepers, once you know that your thyroid is normal, you can have a very small volume of Restylane placed in the hollow. This is done in the office and takes about 10 minutes. Stay off all blood thinning products for 10-14 days before having the treatment. Choose your doctor very carefully as this is a most delicate area, and experience is essential. It should last for a year to 18 months. Godd luck and be well. Dr. P

Hi The name of the product is the Spacesleeper Pillow. It keeps you from touching your face to any surfaces while you sleep. There's no creasing, or stretching of the facial tissues. We damage our face every night that we sleep! This pillow will stop that. Thanks Tony Hightower

I'm not sure how to do this, but I'm receiving the updates on comments posted. If somebody was asking what it is I use I use the CJ Skin Care Colloidal Oats and Clay facial mask...I swear by it. Not only that, my husband and both my grown sons use it as well. I use it to keep my complexion smooth (plus, it's AFFORDABLE) and they use it to remove blackheads, clear up their acne, AND condition their beads. It seems to be rather multi-purpose. My mother and sisters have just started using this as well and were really surprised by the improvements to their complexions.

The most common cause of a tired look is loss of mid-cheek volume, making the central part of the face below the eye look sunken. The concavity or flattening results in shadowing that makes you look flat, gaunt, tired. It also accentuates any darkness or bags under the eye. The quickest effective remedy is filler injections. Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Sculptra can all be effective, depending on technique used and the experience of the dermatiologist. Surgery is also an option that can be explored. Cheek implants and mid-face lift may be alternatives that last longer than fillers.

Often as we age, we lose volume and fullness of our mid-cheek. This loss of mid cheek volume results in a flattening of the profile and increases the shadowing under the eyes that accentuates undereye circles. This results in a tired, drawn appearance. The loss of mid-cheek volume also accentuates nasolabial folds, giving a sad appearance. The best treatment other than a mid cheek lift surgically (which just tightens skin, but does not restore the cheek volume) is the injection of a dermal filler to fill, restore and lift the mid cheek. I use Juvederm Ultra Plus, Perlane, Radiesse, and Sculptra for this technique. The best choice should be made by you with the guidance of a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon familiar with this emerging technique.
