I'm 6 weeks post op and have an open wound in my right breast vertical next to the aereola.. It now has a yellow crust over the wound. I try scrubbing it off when I take my shower but it doesn't come off. Been on an Aquaphor to keep it moist, no smelly discharge, fever or chills, swelling gone, no pain. Should I be worried about this yellow crust and see my PS or should I continue with my healing wound regimen? I've also applied Neosporin and always covere the wound ?

Answer: I have a yellow scab over my open wound after breast reduction surgery. Is this something I should worry about?
Individuals recover differently but most breast reduction patients are back to everyday activity in just a few days. The specifics of your convalescence will be managed by your own plastic surgeon.
Rheumatoid arthritis itself is not a contraindication to a breast reduction but many of the medications that you may be taking may be more problematic. Some medications cause increased bleeding. Check with your rheumatologist prior to considering the surgery.
