Micro Fat Graft Survival in the Buttock

Fat cell survival depends largely on how the fat was handled prior to placement. If handled gently 50 to 75 percent should survive and the volume should be present for about five to ten years.

Hello, How long fat grafting lasts is a common question. A more accurate question is what percentage of fat grafting survives. The fat that survives should last as long as you maintain your weight. Some mild loss of volume is normal as you age but this occurs with all fat whether its been grafted or its the fat that is present in your body by birth. How many years does Fat Grafting Last?

I have performed this procedure for about 14 years now and have seen some of my patients back almost 10 years after having this procedure done. They look as good 10 years later as they did 3 months after the procedure was done. If the procedure is done correctly, and the fat cells survive, they should be there for life, just like the fat cells that were there naturally. That is the main issue.... Your surgeon must do the procedure in a way that the fat cells survive.... more
