Visible Bumps and Swelling on Both Sides of my Nose Years After Rhinoplasty

I had a rhinoplasty about 5 yrs ago. I'd had a previous one years before and then a broken nose. The doc said he had to widen my nose with cartilage. He then thinned the tip. Ever since I have had ugly bumps from the cartilage, and my nose is always swollen, often more on one side than the other. The scar on my columella is ugly and has a "step" to it where it doesn't line up. ENTs/surgeons have told me there's nothing they can do; my nasal passages are small and they fear collapse. Please help!

Visible Bumps and Swelling post Revision Rhinoplasty

I'm sorry about your previous unfortunate expeeriences. You need to have a consultation and examination by an experienced revision rhinoplasty surgeon to determine what can be done and establish reasonable expectations.

Nasal bumps after rhinoplasty.

Revision rhinoplasty can improve your problem. There are several ways to support the nose and correct the problem, but the surgeon would have to see the nose to determine what is needed. See an experienced revision rhinoplasty specialist for the best results.

Looking at rhinoplasty (nose job) for the third time following 2 previous rhinoplasty and injury

This is a difficult problem and from my count you would be looking at a tertiary rhinoplasty that would likely require and involve extensive cartilage grafting from the ear and ribs.

Without an exam it is difficult to say what can be done for you.  IF cartilage is riding up that can lead to bumps if they were spreader grats that were not properly secured.

Rhinoplasty

Hi, It sounds like you had cartilage spreader grafts put in and now they are visible or moving out of position. Also the step off deformity can be from a poorly healed mid-collumelar incision. You can certainly have a revision to correct all the problems you have mentioned. You will probably need some cartilage tip grafting and repositioning of the spreader grafts along with the step off correction. Try to find a surgeon who has allot of experience with rhinoplasty. Visible bumps after rhinoplasty

There are two types of cartilage grafts used in nasal shaping, those that are hidden to provide support, and those that are visible to change the shape and structure. The cartilage grafts in the tip were meant to be seen and show through the skin giving the tip its new shape. If not expertly done irregularities will show as well. You may wish to consult with a plastic surgeon in your area to smooth out the tip imperfection and correct the poor scar as well. Best of luck... more

Fillers can help bumps on the nose after rhinoplasty

Injectable fillers, like the ones used to fill lips and wrinkles, can be used in some cases to make a nose look better after rhinoplasty.  I like to use a hyaluronic acid filler to smooth out a nose after another surgeon has had a result that they are not happy with and you can see major improvements with a relatively straight forward in office injection.  However, it is important to realize major problems can occur with filler injection to the nose, especially after... more
