Was Wondering Whether I Could Just Get Implants or Whether I Would Need a Full Lift

I want to retain a more natural look and not high by my collar bone breasts. Is it possible that they could be made fuller without the horrible scarring of a full mastopexy.

Breast Augmentation vs. Lift

A breast augmentation makes your breasts larger and can look natural without the "breasts at your collar-bone" look whether you need a lift or not. A mastopexy or breast lift moves your nipple position from the lower part of your breast to the middle of your breast. If you are ok with where your nipples are (they will NOT move after implant surgery) and simply want fuller, bigger breasts, you can get an augmentation only. A breast lift can be done at a separate... more

The pencil test to determine if a breast lift is necessary

Place a pencil horizontally at the crease between your breast and your chest wall. If your nipple is lower than the pencil then your would benefit from a lift. A periareolar lift will give excellent results with minimal scarring for nipples that are less than an inch below the pencil. If your nipples are lower, you will probably need a periareolar and a vertical scar the extends down from the areola.

Breast lift?

It's hard to advise you without seeing a photo. One thing though, the scars of a breast lift- if indeed that's what you need- don't need to be 'horrible scars'. When planned properly these scars usually heal well.

Breast Aug or Lift

As simple as it may sound, if your breasts are lax and your nipple droops below the crease under your breast, you need a lift. This elevates the nipple to a more youthful position. Augmentation simply makes whatever breast position you have, larger. If your breast hands too much to you and your surgeon's observation a lift will give you an overall better end result. I hope this information is helpful.

Breast Augmentation with or without lift?

Hi there- Without a proper examination, it would be very difficult to give you a responsible answer to your question, as (in addition to the variables some of my colleagues have described) there are characteristics of your skin and breast tissue that would ned to be understood before making recommendations. Furthermore, as some have pointed out, it is more true for this procedure than for most that no two surgeons are exactly alike in their experience and skill achieving lovely... more

Breast Augmentation/Lift vs. Lift Only

Breast implants with a lift and a breast lift alone are two entirely different procedures. The first question you must ask yourself is whether you are happy with the size of your current breasts? If you are and have no desire to get implants then a lift alone is appropriate. However, know that you'll likely end up with a "lollipop" or "T" scar. A breast lift with implants, I feel, is a much better procedure. First, the implants help... more

Beverly Hills breast lift with augmentation

Hello and thank you for the question. Its impossible to make a determination of what you need without a proper examination, or at least, good photographs. In general, a breast lift or mastopexy is designed to raise the breast and reshape the breast mound to a more youthful shape, whereas a breast augmentation is designed to "augment" or increase the size/volumize of the breast. While a breast augmentation may offer an element of "lift" it is by no means a... more

Breast lift vs implants

Without an exam or at least photos, it is difficult to say what you might need. If you are not full but not sagginf, you may only need breast implants. If your breasts are sagging, then you may be able to geta small lift around the border of the areola.

Options for natural looking breasts

It’s hard to say without a photo which treatment and placement fits you the best. There are various factors regarding how you want your breasts to look and feel, but if you and your doctor have a good, open line of communication, you shouldn’t need to go back and forth on your decision. If you just want to go bigger, the only way to do that is with implants. Any type of incision for a breast lift will leave a scar, but there are ways now that are minimal scarring and give a... more

Procedure best for you

In order to answer your question with some accuracy, you need to submit photos. Having said that, it seems that you think mastopexy scars are horrible, and that is a concern. Especially if you do need one. I think you need to communicate your concerns and expectations to your plastic surgeon and go from there. Good luck

Do you need a lift?

Unfortunately, without seeing photos or examining you, I cannot answer your question. For some patients, just an implant will give them the results they are looking for. For other patients, a mastopexy is necessary. Please post photos so that I can give you more precise information.

Breast lift or Breast Implants?

Please submit photos. Without them this is only a hypothetical discussion. In general, a mastopexy has more scaring than a breast augmentation. However when the breast has a significant amount of sagging (the nipple is well below the breast fold), implants alone will not give you a nice looking breasts. Implants do not lift brests, they simply add volume to an existing breast. So if you are happy with the position of your breasts and you want to simply... more

Beautiful breasts without implants

Hi, Because you did not submit any pictures, it's hard to suggest what would be most appropriate for you. I'm assuming that you just want to regain the perkiness you once had when you were younger. If this is so, let me make a suggestion. There is a technique that allows you to regain youthful breasts with minimal scarring and no implants. I often use this technique for women who desire a perky look without the extra expense of implants and a lift without the... more

To lift or not to lift - All about nipple position

The requirement of a breast lift is straightforward. If your nipples are below or just at the bottom breast fold, some kind of breast lift will be required. Without this additional procedure, a breast aug will create the "snoopy-dog" deformity where the breast tissue will hang over the mound created by the implant. Not a nice look. Do not take the short cut, you will be unhappy. All the best, Dr. Lille

Do You Need a Lift?

Whether or not you need a lift (mastopexy) procedure will be determined by a physical exam to determine the degree of sagging that you have currently. However, if your sagging is mild and you are seeking a little more volume in your breasts, perhaps a breast augmentation may be what you would require. Please visit with an ASPS member surgeon in your area. Best of luck.

See a plastic surgeon

You need too be examined. With no photos, I have no way of knowing what can be done. High implants are unnatural.

Where is your breast in relation to your breast fold?

If your breast is drooping below where the bottom of your breast is attached to your chest (inframammary fold), chances are that you will need a lift. What type of lift you need can only be determined by proper exam. Also, there are other things to consider such as where the implant is placed with respect to the muscle and what style of implant is used.

Implants Or Lift

Photos in your case would have been very helpful. No one can answer your question without more information. The most important point is the position of your nipple in relation to your inframammary fold. If the nipple is below your fold, you are not likely to get a result from augmentation alone with which you will be pleased. On the other hand, if your nipple is well-positined, you can probably get a nice result with implants and no lift. Although I agree with... more

If you like the shape of your breast with push up bra, you need a lift

The only way to give you a good answer,is physical examination or at least front and side pictures. If you need a lift, implants will not be enough and will give problems later. If you happy with your breast size and shape with a push up bra, you need lift only. If you are not happy with the size then you will need lift and volume( fat grafting or implants).

Avoidance of a needed breast lift is not a prudent choice

Without having submitted any photos to assess your situation, an accurate answer can't be provided. If you do have sagging, trying to avoid the scars of a mastopexy by either placing implants above the muscle and/or using much larger implants to compensate for the excess tissue is very imprudent and will create more difficult and undesirable issues in the future. If a lift is truly needed then it should be performed. You will be happier in the long run and it will actually cost you less... more

Mastopexy scarring

Breast position is a feature of an attractive breast which is seldom obtained with breast implants alone. Scarring from mastopexies are often viewed on the Internet and in websites at very early stages of maturation. Typical results are displayed at only a few months in most situations. As time passes, the scars can fade dramatically. We have photos taken at two years time on two separate patients side to side on our website to demonstrate this change. An example is attached taken at 14... more

Breast implants do not correct sagging breasts

Your question can not be answered without photos. I will say that breast implants will worsen, not improve, sagging breasts. Typically, in order to end up with a very good contour some patients may require the incisions and scars of certain types of breast lifts. You should consult with a few board certified plastic surgeons before making a decision. You may even get a few different answers (implant alone, implant plus lift, implant first-followed by lift later, etc). Take your time and ask... more

Silicone breast implants over the muscle will correct mild sagging.

Hi. 1) Moderate sized implants over the muscle together with an internal (scar less) lift will correct moderate sagging. and leave you with a natural looking result. 2) For more severe sagging, we use implants together with a Benelli lift. This leaves you with a circular scar around the nipple, which fades and which women accept very well. 3) If you are not happy after wards, it almost never is because of the scar. If a woman is unhappy, it is... more

Is a breast lift necessary with augmentation?

Pictures would be helpful to determine if you would benefit from a mastopexy or "breast lift" along with your augmentation. Breast ptosis or "droopiness" is graded on a scale. If it is mild, you may be a candidate for a breast lift that keeps the scar just around your areola. These tend to heal very well. If you have a more significant amount of ptosis, then you would probably need a circumvertical mastopexy, which would include scars around your areola, down the... more

Answer depends on how much drooping you have

It is not possible to answer your question without seeing and perhaps examining your breasts. If you have a significant amount of drooping of your breasts, then you will probably need some kind of surgical lift to achieve the desired results. If the drooping is minor, breast implants alone may be able to achieve the desired outcome. I suggest that you make an appointment and consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. see video

Breast lifts

Without photos who can say but if the breasts are droopy, no implant alone will look good at all. A well done lift (and no 2 surgeons are alike) will be a good trade off of shape for scar and the scars almost always become a non-issue over time especially if you get a great shape.

Scarring is often a concern......

Unfortunately, since you have not submitted any photographs, it is impossible to advise you if you need a lift or not. You will need to see a board certified Plastic Surgeon for a complete examination. Please keep in mind that scarring is definitely one concern from most patients, but you have to decide which is worse, droopy breasts with no scars or perky ones with minimal scars. If you avoid the sun, avoid smoking and follow your after care instructions to the... more
