It really isnt when you break it down to cost per hour. It runs about the same as what a good tattoo artist charges. We use anesthetics which are expensive and our insurance may be more expensive (I'm not competely sure aobut that) and our field changes very raidly so technicians who keep their education current have to absorb that cost somewhere. I would rather trust my face to a plastic surgeon who is current and maybe a bit more expensive than one who took his last training 10 years ago. I hope this sheds some light on why it might seem that we are more expensive, but I dont really see us being a lot more expensive. Our liability is generally a bit more than that of a traditional tattoo artist.
