Timing of umbilical hernia repair with abdominoplasty
It makes sense to repair the hernia during the abdominoplasty as the exposure is optimal. However, your question is not very clear. Have you already had the tummy tuck procedure and the hernia was not repaired? If this is the case, I recommend waiting at least 3-6 months before attempting to repair the hernia. It is best to have the hernia evaluated by a surgeon to see if it can be done at that time.

Tummy Tuck and Umbilical Hernia repair
If you are unable to have a general surgeon or plastic surgeon repair your umbilical hernia at the same time as your tummy tuck, I recommend that you have the umbilical hernia repaired before the tummy tuck.
Most plastic surgeons are capable of repairing an umbilical hernia.

When Should an Umbilical Hernia be Repaired, if a Surgeon Does Not Repair It During a TT?
An umbilical hernia SHOULD be fixed at the time of a Tummy Tuck. There is NO reason why you should have another operation when it could easily be done at the same time as the Tummy Tuck. The vast majority of Plastic Surgeons have trained in General Surgery and are VERY comfortable treating most hernias and most would correct such hernias while performing a Tummy Tuck. If they prefer not to do so, they can call in a General surgeon to perform the procedure DURING the Tummy Tuck. If your...

Tummy tuck and umbilical hernia
There is no doubt that during tummy tuck is the best time to repair the umbilical hernia. In some instances when the plastic surgeon does not do the hernia repair they will ask and general surgeon to do during tummy tuck.

Umbilical hernia should be repaired together with tummy tuck.
Hi.
1) If your plastic surgeon does not feel comfortable repairing the hernia, then a general surgeon can come in and repair it during the tummy tuck. (Most plastic surgeons repair these hernias.) There is really no reason to have another operation.
2) But if you have already had the tummy tuck and the hernia was not repaired, then I would wait six months and have a general surgeon fix it. It can probably be done through the scar around your belly button.

Tummy Tuck - When Should an Umbilical Hernia be Repaired, if a Surgeon Does Not Repair It During a TT?
Have a general surgeon join your plastic surgeon, and do them at the same time.
I do this routinely when I have a patient who's having surgery with me, and who has an abdominal hernia. I send the patient to my friendly general surgeon well ahead of time, and we coordinate the surgery. It has to be done on the right day for everyone's schedule.
You should speak to your PS about this and fine a way to have both things done at the same time. There's...

Best time to repair an umbilical hernia
The best time to repair an umbilical hernia is at the same time as a tummy tuck. There are few medical/surgical reasons not to. In fact, it can become more difficult to repair it at a later date because of scarring. You may wish to seek a second opinion.

Umbilical hernia repair at time of abdominoplasty
I would perform both the umbilical hernia repair and abdominoplasty through the same incision in the same operation. Unless your plastic surgeon can explain why these should not be performed together, I'd encourage you to seek a second opinion. If you do elect to have two separate surgeries in the abdominal area, I would not recommend that they be performed within six months and that the hernia be repaired first so that a general surgery procedure does not negatively affect the cosmetic...

Timing of Tummy Tuck and Umbilical Hernia Repair
The answer to most questions in medicine is: it depends. I agree that the preferred time to do it would be at the same time as the tummy tuck, but sometimes it is not appropriate. If the hernia is excessively large, then the appropriate dissection to properly repair the hernia would put the umbilicus at risk in a traditional tummy tuck. So, in medicine it all depends. Good luck with achieving your goals.

Umbilical Hernia and Tummy Tuck
Thank you for the question.
In my opinion, the best time to repair the umbilical hernia is at the same time that you're having a tummy tuck done. At that time, the hernia is easily exposed and repaired, negating the need for further surgery.
It would be in your best interest to have these procedures done concomitantly.
I hope this helps.
